LG Electronics has expressed its intent to dominate Smartphone market by launching its LG Optimus Black- the Smartphone. Optimus Black is a top-end phone that is developed to compete with Samsung Galaxy S2 and Apple’s iPhone4 for the Smartphone crown.

The phone admits a 4-inch touch-screen in the center of a black plastic surround along with four touch-Sensitive buttons beneath it, common to Android mobiles.

The Screen-unlock and Power button resides at the top of the phone. There is a small sliding cover for the Micro-USB port too. Removing the back cover gives you a direct access to the Micro-SD Card Slot, unlike some phones which require the removal of the battery.

A Single-Core ARM Cortex-A8 processor, running at 1GHz powers Optimus Black. The processor may not be as fast as the latest Dual-core mobile processors but promises to devote a moderate speed.

The phone may not have as high a resolution as some of the latest Quarter HD (540 x 960) Screen, but leaves a plenty of room to accommodate all applications. It also serves as an ideal device for web browsing in landscape mode.

Room for Apps

Optimus Black runs on Android 2.2 Froyo version at present. However, LG promises to update the same with version 2.3 soon. The Mobile Phone is speedy and you will rarely notice any instance of a slowing-down while using it.

One of the most interesting features about the phone is a gesture button located on the left side of the phone that lets you perform gesture-based Shortcuts for various actions. Other feature that hogs the limelight is ‘Nova’, a new display technology.  According to LG electronics, it is the brightest and most Readable display ever. The very display enables the user to maintain visibility, irrespective of their indoor or outdoor presence, under strong sunlight.

The LG Smartphone houses a 5 MP rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, for stylish self-portraits and video calling. The rear camera is also capable of recording HD video, in 720p at 30 frames per second, expected from a decent Smartphone camera. Apart from all this, Optimus Black is slimmer than the 9.3mm iPhone 4, and lighter than it by approximately 135g.

The LG Optimus Black is Priced at 18,590 INR, Optimus Black is a decent all-round phone that can stand out in the heady world of Android.
