As I said earlier never the late India is now aware of the advantages of the tablet PC’s. Starting with Olive Pad followed by Reliance communications tablet, Beetel Magiq and Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 now iBall one of the best local brand of India has came up with its tablet called as ‘iBall Slide‘. Let’s have an in-depth look on the tablet,
iBall Slide runs on ARM Cortex A8 Processor clocked at 1GHz, yes single core. Expecting dual core CPU at such low price can be useless but along with this CPU other factors responsible for performance are kept balanced. There is no word about the capacity of the RAM, but in my opinion as compare to the CPU the RAM should be at least 512MB.
The tablet has 7inch screen size supporting resolution of 800×480 pixels (WVGA) on it. It’s clear from this that no HD stuff can be played on this tab. That’s the bad part of it but still it is not expected as we cannot overlook the price factor.
All it comes is with 8GB of internal memory and alongside supported with MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto 32GB.
Network and Connectivity
Another worst thing about this tablet is there is no built in WiFi adapter nor 3G connectivity, that means you are not able to get connected to the world using internet. In other way this tablet should be called as eBook reader as this is the only primary use of it. Other connectivity options include standard mini USB port and HDMI out for TV mirroring. If we consider the overall specs of this tablet HDMI out is useless here. The miniUSB port provides access to mini USB dongle which acts as third party device to connect this tablet to the internet.
We see a 2MP camera on the front basically for video calling, but where is internet connectivity? While there is no rear camera for basic photo shoots. A camera designed for video calling couldn’t deliver good photo quality, as we cannot expect the same.
The stunning factor is what I call its operating system. If you have went through the specs and impressions above you might conclude that iBall Slide will be powered by Android 2.2 (Froyo). Well, its not the case as it is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Never ever expected, but since the CPU is powerful it surely needs Gingerbread dose to make best of both worlds form it.
It is backed up with 4400mAh battery and according to iBall it provides 6.5 hrs of music and 5hrs of video on an average.
iBall Slide is basically designed for low end use, if it is not combined with the miniUSB dongle for internet then the use of this tablet will be nothing other than eBook and somewhat for multimedia purpose. Looking at the price factor the tablet seems to be a normal one.. If you are planning to buy one just for surfing over the internet and for reading eBooks you have some better options which include Galaxy Tab 750 or Nook color. Well, even Amazon Kindle does the work sometime.
iBall Slide is available at stunning price of Rs. 13,995/- INR. It will be locally available everywhere.
