HTC Sensation – Tech specs, impressions and availability

HTC Sensation

Yesterday HTC arranged a press conference in London where the already leaked (HTC Pyramid) was renamed as HTC Sensation and was officially announced. The phone looks quite interesting and its hardware specifications are just like that of the EVO 3D. We are impressed with this phone; the cherry on the cake is that this could be considered as the GSM version of HTC EVO 3D, but without 3D.

So, here is the impression of the specs of the device based on the features announced by HTC:

Powered by dual-core “SNAPDRAGON” processor clocked at 1.2GHz by Qualcomm, the phone gives stunning performance. The phone comes with 4.3″ display screen which can be said as the true competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S II and supports resolution of 540 x 960 for display. Its display panel surely impressed us, bundled with qHD S-LCD display the phone will give superior display.

However we have seen a number of reviews for phones and Tab but we haven’t seen any competitor for iPhone 4, as far as resolution is concerned. Having a screen size 3.5″, iPhone 4 has got resolution of 640 x 960 pixels which is way more than the current phones in the market at low screen size. After the iPhone 4, even iPod Touch 4G came with that super resolution called as Retina Display.

Unlike all other HTC phones, HTC Sensation is slim having dimensions 126.1 in height, 65.4 in width, 11.3 mm thick.

The Camera feature is totally different. Instead of 5mp 3D camera, HTC Sensation offers 8mp snapper. There is no 3D. It capturies photos at 3264×2448 pixels.  It even comes with the DualLED flash, that will allow you for better out doors at night. Other camera features include, Geo-tagging, touch-focus, image stabilization, face detection and instant image capture.

Like every phone today in the market, HTC Sensation also offers 1080p (FullHD) Recording at 30fps with stereo sound recording so memories will always look and sound real.

HTC Sensation comes with 1GB internal storage and microSD card slot which allows you the optional memory increase till 32GB however the phone comes with 8GB microSD card initially. The Snapdragon processor will give HTC Sensation extreme power to deal with all the apps but in that case for multi-tasking the phone got little less RAM. It comes with 768 MB of RAM whereas every phone having specs similar to that of HTC Sensation has 1GB RAM for much better performance. The graphics stationed has been powered by Adreno 220 GPU which will surely increase the graphics performance of the phone.

Obviously it will come with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) mobile operating system which can perfectly optimize the phone. Along with that, this time HTC has even changed the HTC Sense UI, add number of new options and made it even more faster. The lockscreen is completely change, the email app has been featured better with faster interface and more realistic animations for weather effects.

HTC Sensation brings video playback support for XviD/MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV directly out of the box, whereas for audio it supports MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA. That means almost all the video and audio formats for better multimedia options and better margin for viewing videos and movies. HDMI out is another better option for the phone, recorded videos at 1080p and stereo surround sound will always look better on your HDTV.

Balanced with 1520mAh battery HTC Sensation provides really good battery backup of 400hrs for 2G, 300hrs for 3G as standby while call in progress backup of 6hrs 40min for 2G and 8hrs 20min for 3G. As of yet only this much is know about the phone’s battery backup once we get the hands on review of phone we will clarify the battery backup for movies, music, websurfing and applications.

As mentioned earlier, we are really impressed. The phone has got almost everything which is needed to be in the lists of top smartphones. Considering the specs we will surely say that the phone is comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S 2.

The phone was announced yesterday and is expected to be made available in next month, mostly May 2011.
