HTC Launches Cheapest Smartphone In India, HTC Explorer!

HTC Explorer

The ‘HTC Explorer Android Phone‘, heard of it? If no, then probably you should, for it is the cheapest smartphone coming from HTC, first to India. HTC, after manufacturing wealthy phones like the HTC HD7, HTC Mozart and many, is now looking to tap the entry-level phone market by launching a basic entry-level smartphone named as the HTC Explorer. The HTC Explorer, earlier named as HTC Pico, has been first launched in India and then other countries may follow suit.

Coming to its specifications, the HTC Explorer features a 600 MHz processor with 384MB of RAM which is quite good for a basic smartphone.  It runs on the Android OS platform v2.3 while also having HTC Sense 3.5 as one of its primary features. The HTc Explorer sports a 3.2 inch HVGA display along with a 3 MP camera at its rear. Being an entry-level smartphone, this phone doesn’t have a dual camera and hence cannot support video-calling.

HTC Explorer also includes a customizable lock screen that functions as a real-time window to the customer’s most important information and content, such as social updates, photos, weather or stock updates that are viewed by simply waking up the display. The lock screen also enables quick access to the camera for capturing those important moments. There’s also a Smart Dialer that displays a one-touch menu for quick, easy dialing of contacts. The smartphone also supports Adobe Flash.

The HTC Explorer will be unveiled in New Delhi today and shall be available soon at a price of INR 12,650 which classifies it as the cheapest HTC mobile device ever. The phone shall be available with special tariff plans from Vodafone and there are expectations regarding inclusion of free 3G data access and preferential call rates for a limited period. The HTC’s global team is coming for the event and is expected to talk about the companies’ strategy for India. HTC has already said that India is one of the most important markets for the country and this global launch proves that.

All said and done, are you geared up for the HTC Explorer Android Phone?
