Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G is now available on AT&T from this week. No such major differences from its Smartphone version. Xperia Play 4G has been geared with impressive PlayStation gaming experience through Sony’s ‘PlayStation Suite’ initiative.
Sony Ericsson has partnered with some game publishers like EA Sports and Gameloft and are preparing to launch games like ‘Need For Speed’, ‘Sims 3’, ‘FIFA 10’, ‘Assassin’s Creed’, ‘Splinter Cell’ etc. The phone comes preloaded with Asphalt 6, Crash Bandicoot, Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, Madden NFL 2011, Star Batallion, and The Sims 3. The Android-based smartphone has a slide-out gaming control, with a digital D-pad, two analog touch pads, two shoulder buttons and the iconic four-icon PlayStation keys.
Xperia Play 4G runs on a Qualcomm 1GHz MSM8255 processor with Adreno 205 GPU Graphics Processor for smooth 60-frames per second 3D gaming. Xperia Play has also got a built-in 5.1 megapixel auto-focus camera with video recording. The large 4” full touch screen display increases the playing spirit.
The latest Google’s Android 2.3 Operating System with access to Google search, Google voice search, Google talk, YouTube, Google maps and android market claims it to be special. Xperia Play has got multimedia document viewer and improved internet speeds with HSPA+ 21 network.
The screen slides horizontally to reveal an absolutely wonderful gamepad. There are four directional buttons, four PlayStation action buttons, two analog track pads, joystick, Select, Start, menu buttons, and two “flippers” on the top edge of the phone as in the conventional PS.
The only unlikely thing that I could spot on this phone is the battery backup. For a game lover the saddest thing is you will need to charge it up frequently. The physical appearance is not that wonderful. The Xperia Play 4G Smartphone is priced around $399.99 which is comparatively better compared to its basic smartphone version.
