Nokia Releases N9 PR1.1 Updates Today

Nokia N9

Nokia, last week, talked about their forthcoming update for the Nokia N9, and today it is distinctly clear that Nokia has gone on air with it already. 1.1 brings a bag of goodies, and the company says that it’ll be available really soon for all.

According to a post on Nokia support forums, the update brings

  • NFC tag reading to instantly interact with NFC tags
  • Music controls on lock screen
  • Photo and video shooting with color filters: black & white, sepia, vivid, negative, solarize
  • More powerful multitasking with improved memory handling
  • Swype for fast typing
  • Faster MfE synch, synchronizing only active folders
  • Noice cancellation reduces background noise so that your friends hear you better
  • Close apps easily with swiping down, this now on by default
  • New indicators for standby screen like charging and calendar

There’s more in the update, folks, than they mentioned too. We’re, in person, really excited to get the performance tweaks and Swype for typing. Nokia plans on releasing more updates for MeeGo on the N9 into 2012, with 1.2 already being worked on. The platform, dear readers, isn’t so dead after all!

You’ll see a software update notification if it’s available for you, however Nokia emphasizes that it is being pushed in waves to users. Full reports will be made available to you as soon as the Nokia N9 comes out.
