Pandigital SuperNova tablet : Specifications, Review

Pandgital would have thought about price being a major factor in determining the success of a product. It definitely is but its not THE only factor. Performance also comes in. And these views of Pandigital while manufacturing the SuperNova tablet might just not relate with users. We take a look at what maketh this device.

The SuperNova is another name being added in to the list of 8-inch tablets. Running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread version as its primary operating system, the SuperNova is also supported by a Samsung S5PV210 processor. But wait! You cannot access the Android Marketplace on this device since it is not Google-certified. Sad. Performance-wise, this is a fairly average bet according to its price while also having a processor speed of 1.06 GHz. Given the addition of a resistive touchscreen with 600 x 800 display resolution makes it a suitable device for daily, maybe rough usage. It has got 512MB as internal RAM storage with an option to increase the external storage limit to 32GB with support to microSD, microSDHC and a micro-HDMI slot too.

The Pandigital SuperNova supports Bluetooth 2.1, Wireless Connectivity 802.11b/g/n and also a front-facing camera for video-calling. Beside the camera are two status lights that indicate ON and OFF respectively. And yes, you also get a back camera for clicking snaps and shooting videos. The area below the screen features four buttons which stand for home, back, search and settings respectively. This helps in faster navigation in and around.

The look and touch of the Pandigital SuperNova gives a plasticky feel and isn’t done well. It is rugged at corners and the speakers aren’t that well too. In fact at some point, they just lose the bass.

On a whole, this device carries a nice price factor, being available for just $200 but performance-wise as we said earlier, it is just an average make.
