Large fan following for past couple of years and Android still retains the top spot in terms of mobile user’s choice. Android community is growing over time. MWC 2012 has some good news for Android fans as well. Amazing mobile phones, innovative gadgets and now the Android version 5, MWC has it all!

Google VP of engineering for mobile, named Hiroshi Lockheimer has hinted that the launch of Android 5 will be until this fall. The new version of the mobile operating system will be named as Jelly Bean but Google still hasn’t come out clearly for naming the next version of the operating system. Sounds quite weird though, but the operating system is expected to be packed with all the software updates.

Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, launched in November 2011 and it seems that Google is set to release the next version around the same time this year.  ICS is in its early stages as for now, only handful of mobile phone ships with ICS. Currently with Apple in lead for Tablet PC sales around the globe, Android 5 could open a new front in the competition.

Android 5 is expected to be focused more towards the Tablet. Apparently things here to be noticed are : If Android launches Android 5 soon after the Android 4, then many Tablets running Ice-Cream Sandwich would be out dated. Also this latest version of Android 5 should be available as an update on large market of Android  phones.

Here it is what Official had to say when they were asked  about Android 5 release.

“After Android 4 comes 5, and we haven’t announced the timing yet, which we’re still sorting out,” Lockheimer said. “There’s a lot of engineering work behind it still, and there’s also just the question of how to time it.”

Lockheimer added, “In general, the Android release cadence is one major release a year with some maintenance releases that are substantial still.”
