As the BlackBerry World started today, all eyes were on BlackBerry 10 Jam. RIM didn’t took much time and made a few announcements regarding the BlackBerry 10 Platform. The initial version of the developer toolkit for native and HTML5 has been released. The developer toolkit of BlackBerry 10 will help the developers to create applications for the platform which can arrive on the BlackBerry devices both phones and Playbook later this year. The toolkit is available for download as a Beta from BlackBerry’s Developer Website.
Developers who will attend the BlackBerry 10 Jam during the BlackBerry World will receive a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha Device. This will let them to test their applications.

During the launch of BlackBerry 10 Alec Saunders, Vice President, Developer Relations and Ecosystems Development said
BlackBerry 10 builds upon the core values and exceptional user experiences that have attracted more than 77 million BlackBerry customers around the world today.
He further said…
Developers building for BlackBerry 10 will be able to easily create the kind of cutting-edge apps that deliver truly engaging experiences and ‘wow’ customers, whether through integration with native features and other apps like BBM or by leveraging the new signature design elements of this new and powerful mobile computing platform.
Later on Christopher Smith, The Vice President of Handheld Application Platform and Tools at RIM said
There is tremendous interest, anticipation and momentum building toward the launch of BlackBerry 10 devices, and today we’re extremely excited to release the BlackBerry 10 developer beta tools for general use.
He further explained,
Developers can use this first beta of the tools to get started building apps for BlackBerry 10 and as the tools evolve over the coming months, developers will have access to a rich API set that will allow them to build even more integrated apps. The toolkit we are delivering today also meets developers on their own terms. Whether using the powerful Cascades framework, writing direct native code or developing in HTML5, BlackBerry 10 will empower developers to create attractive and compelling apps that excite customers.

The BlackBerry 10 Developer Toolkit comes with BlackBerry 10 Native SDK with Cascades which will allow developers to create graphically rich, high performance applications on C/C++or Qt. The set of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) comes bundled with the BlackBerry 10 SDK which allows developers to access the core features of the device and a range of BlackBerry application services like Push and Payment Services. The BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK is now available to Download.
Applications created using these tools will run on the BlackBerry 10 Phones and Blackberry Playbook’s when it becomes available for the Playbook. In the coming months the SDK’s will receive further updates which will give the developer more access to the new capabilities of BlackBerry 10 Platform.
