Interesting known and lesser known facts about Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook means a lot today. From reminding you about your friend’s birthdays to publicizing yourself on the net, Facebook has simplified the lives of the common man umpteen times.

With more than 500 million active users, Facebook was launched in February 2004 by Mark Elliot “Zuck” Zuckerberg, its co-founder, CEO and President. Born on May 14, 1984 in White Plains, New York, there are a few things you probably might not know about this geek.

Mark Zuckberberg was ranked No.1 on the list of the Top 100 “Most influential people of the Information Age” by Vanity Fair 2010 and was voted among the “world’s 50 most influential figures” by New Statesman’s annual survey 2010. He also is the ‘Times person of the year 2010’.

Facebook is all blue because Mark Zuckerberg is red-green color blind. With blue being the color he sees best, hence its the most predominant color on Facebook.

Mark says Money and fame isn’t important for him. Mark Zuckerberg rejected a $1 billion offer to buy Facebook. According to him, Facebook is his baby and he wants to keep running it and help it grow. But sure, keeping Facebook has made him richer and more famous. ;)

‘Princely’, ‘Slayer’ and ‘Zuck’. These all are the various nicknames by which Mark Zuckerberg is often called by.

Though it helped millions of people to connect and share together, Facebook founder ‘Zuck’  is a very shy and reserved person in real life and loves keeping to himself most of the time.

He is also an educationist. Zuckerberg donated $100 million to the Newark, New Jersey school system on September 22, 2010.

Mark Zuckerberg also has a successful Hollywood film, ‘The Social Network’ dedicated to him which maps the birth and rise of Facebook.
