A year ago, Amazon has launched a new service known as Test Drive. This Service has allowed the user to try applications using PC Web Browser. Customer reviews, product descriptions, screenshots and videos has been made available to help the user to know more about the app before he spends his money on it. Test Drive helps the user to understand the value of premium apps.

Today, Amazon came with a Test Drive App for your Android phone. This will allow the users to test the app straight away from their Android Devices. Test Drive will allow you to test the app without downloading or installing it. No need to move in front of your desktop. Currently, it is under development as this is the beta version of the app. It will allow you play with 16,000+ apps present on the Amazon Store.

Test Drive an App

Click the “Test Drive” button on an app page. Within a few seconds, you will be able to user your Phone’s touch and accelerometer to control the app. You will experience the app running on your Android Device.  Test Drive provides user with the experience of first run of the app, as it is just installed.  App can be downloaded at any point, while you are on the Test Drive.

Working of Test Drive

Amazon brings the Test Drive experience to Amazon.com and Android phones using the massive server fleet that comprises the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), a web service that provides on-demand compute capacity in the cloud for developers.  When customers click the Test Drive button, a copy of an app is launched on EC2. As customers interact with the app, Amazon sends those inputs over the phone’s Wi-Fi Internet connection to the app running on Amazon EC2.  The servers of Amazon then send the video and audio output from the app back to the customer’s computer or phone. All this happens in real time, allowing customers to explore the features of the app as if it were running locally on their mobile device.

Whenever an app is submitted at the Amazon Store, the Amazon Guys automatically test these apps for Test Drive and strive to make all apps available for Test Drive.

This feature will definitely bring more people towards the Amazon App Store. So what are you waiting for? Test Drive your App Now.
