There’s good news for iOS users who have been using/managing their WordPress blog for long on iPad and iPhone. A new version of WordPress, version 3.1 has been released for iOS.
The latest version has been redesigned for both, iPhone and iPad, more for iPad in particular. For instance, WordPress automatically adjusts to a more comfortable widescreen layout of your iPad when you rotate the screen while writing.
Along comes, loads of new features and improvements. The app now includes,
- An Updated Interface – Takes you straight to the Reader, where you can catch up on the blogs you follow, find topics you like and read about them.
- Sidebar Navigation – Allows you to take a deeper look into the app.
- iPad Panels – Enables you to quickly get to any part of the app and rediscover your content.
In addition to the User Interface changes, there are tons of features being introduced to the app. Let’s cover few of them in brief.
Easy Dashboard Access:
The revamped dashboard include links to access different plugins, widgets, etc as well as buttons on the sidebar to view your favorite sites.
Post Format Support:
There’s a new option for setting the post format for your post. The option can be found in the post setting tab and helps you check how your post looks like once it’s published
More stats have been added to the app that contains same data that you see in WordPress.com. This means more details, more control, and much better use of screen space.
WordPress.com Friend Finder:
The new option in the WordPress.com Reader allows you to find your blogging friends on Facebook or Twitter.
All-around Landscape Support:
Almost all areas of the app including tabs in the post editor now support Landscape orientation.
Earlier version contained lot of bugs and many performance related issues. These have been eliminated in WordPress for iOS version 3.1.
