Apple iPhone 5 is already launched in many countries covering major countries like US, UK, Australia, etc. in the first wave followed by some other countries in the second wave. Right now, iPhone 5 is officially available in 30+ countries, India doesn’t lie anywhere among them. Like it has been a tradition of Apple products, they always reach Indian shores little late. Never the late, there’s some good news for iPhone 5 buyers in India.
Reports and multiple sources have confirmed that Apple is planning to launch iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month. Our sources had already mentioned that iPhone 5 might hit the Indian market somewhere near Diwali. And, now this report comes straight from BGR.
Looks like Apple had already planned the Indian launch. With the start of this month (October), Apple slashed the rates of existing iPhone’s in the markets. This was the first hint towards Apple preparing for iPhone 5 launch.
It is also reported that Indian carriers like Airtel or Aircel won’t sell the iPhone 5 in India, instead it will be exclusively sold by Apple itself. iPhone 5 is expected to have wider availability unlike the iPhone 4S at the time of launch. However, right now there are constraints in iPhone 5 shipping globally.
Price: It is expected that iPhone 5 price will be lying close to iPhone 4S in India. We can’t say at this moment, but it can be Rs. 44,500/- INR like the initial iPhone 4S price.
The prices of iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 are slashed. iPhone 4S which was priced earlier at Rs. 44,500/- INR is now priced at Rs. 41,500/- INR. Where as the price of 8GB iPhone 4 is brought down from Rs. 39,900/- INR to Rs. 28,300/- INR. iPhone 4 received a marginal price cut. Alongside iPhone 3GS is discontinued from the markets.
With the launch of new iPhone, Apple releases 8GB-only version of the old generation devices. It’s not going to happen this time, iPhone 4S will be available in 16GB-only version in the stores with the slashed rates.
