According to the latest rumors by SamMobile, Samsung is working on a camera phone called the Galaxy S4 Zoom. SamMobile says the camera will be a huge 16 MP one which is the same no of pixels that the Galaxy Camera has, which Samsung introduced last year at IFA 2012. This will be a phone primarily meaning that even though the camera might have same no of pixels, it might not be as competent and feature-rich as its digital camera offerings.
Others rumored specifications include a downgraded 4.3 inch qHD Super Amoled screen running on a dual-core or a quad-core processor of unknown make. The phone will be powered by Android Jelly Bean with Touch Wiz Nature UX on top and will have a 8 GB internal memory along with a micro SD card memory expansion slot supporting up to 64 GB. The connectivity features thrown in includes Bluetooth 4.0 LE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and A-GPS. The RAM isn’t yet final.
The rumors further add that the phone will be available before the Summer is over and SamMobile expects June/July is the time it will be out. The Galaxy S4 Zoom is codenamed SM-C1010 which means the model number can change before the official launch. It will initially come in two plain colors – Black and White.
There are no more details as to what price point it will come but since it seems to be less powerful than Galaxy S4 flagship Smartphone, we hope it is priced below or just equal to Galaxy S4 owing to its camera-centric capabilities. Previously, there were rumors about Samsung working on a rugged version of Galaxy S4 as well. It seems that Samsung has some strategy in place where they go on launching other products having an identical name of the flagship so as to increase their recognizability among the consumers. This is quite apparent from names Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 rugged and now Galaxy S4 Zoom.
