Acer Russia’s General Director Denis Kutrikov has confirmed that 8.1 inch Windows 8 tablet Iconia W3 will launch officially on June 4th. The tablet will compete with 7.9 inch iPad Mini and is expected to run a full version of Windows 8 unlike Windows RT. It is expected to come with 8.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and will be powered by a dual-core 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z2760 processor with 2 GB of RAM. It will have 32 GB of internal storage and will have a Micro SD card slot for storage expansion. The battery will provide 8 hours of average use and the tablet will have 2 MP cameras at both front and back, according to the leaks.

The tablet will have dimensions 8.62 x 5.31 x 0.45 inches and will weigh in at nifty 1.1 pounds for its size and specifications. Acer will offer accessories including a Physical QWERTY keyboard that will allow users to place the tablet in its slab. A case that can double up as a stand can also be bought separately. As seen in the Amazon listing, the tablet carried a price of US$379.99 in the United States but no pricing or availability information is currently available for the rest of the globe.

Looking at pricing and specifications from Amazon leak, the tablet offers quite a decent proposition for running a full version of Windows 8. Acer seems to be on a roll for launching tablets and hybrids. It has also revealed two new Windows 8 hybrids sporting a 15.6 inch and 11.6 inch screens and Android powered 7.9 inches Iconia A1 tablet within the last two weeks. You can read about them here.

Acer is expected to make some decent profits from this quarter. It already has launched a range that will be competing with the likes of Google Nexus 7 and Asus Transformer family hybrids and now it wishes to take a pie out of the iPad’s cake with its Iconia W3 tablet.
