Flipboard iOS app updated with new profile pages, FRIENDS category and more

A few days after bringing its Android app up to date, Flipboard has released an upgrade for its iOS application as well. Flipboard is a news magazine app that brings world news and social updates together in a magazine style layout where you flip through to go from one post or news to another. It also allows you to make your own magazines by collecting posts together to read them later.

The new iOS update version 2.0.2 includes new profile pages that are revamped to give more details and discovery into users readership. The new ‘Friends’ category in Content guide allows users to discover and read magazines created by your friends. The share menu offers fast access to allow readers to share their favorite stories and magazines via social networks. A new added share feature allows users to share the same via SMS text messaging as well.

Other notable features include a much better navigation for Google Reader RSS folders and the ability to store images directly to your Apple device’s Camera roll. A few weeks ago the company hit 50 million users and announced an update which allowed the users to create their own magazines. It announced that more than 500,000 magazines have already been created, signifying the importance of a customized readership to users.
