HP Split X2 hybrid, Slatebook X2 specifications and price officially revealed

HP is looking to power its tablet and hybrid market line by introducing two new products in its X2 series. Split X2 is a low-end Windows 8 hybrid and the Slatebook X2 is a high-end big screen Android tablet. HP recorded a lot of success with its Envy X2 hybrid and it plans that these two products will carry on the legacy. These pair of clamshell units allow the keyboards to be detached and come with the keyboard docks inside the package.

The 10.2 inch HP Slatebook X2 is the first device to come with Quad core Nvidia Tegra 4 SoC. The little keyboard dock is included in the Slatebook X2’s price of $479.99 and it could double the battery life to more than eight hours. It comes with a trackpad supporting multi-touch gestures and include a keyboard shortcut for Google Voice search.

The 13.3 inch HP Split x2 is an Intel notebook that runs a full version of Windows 8 and offers a detachable keyboard dock included inside the package. The whole package will cost you $799.99 and will offer you a similar or a little more battery life than any other Intel notebook. The keyboard base includes a second battery and an optional 500 GB hard drive.

  • 13.3 inch display with low 1366 x 768 resolution
  • Core i3/i5 Y-series Ivy League Intel processors
  • SSD 128/256 GB in the tablet and optional 500 GB HDD in keyboard

  • Total weight: 4.85 pounds

HP has not revealed availability details except that both units will be available in August. In our view, the US$800 low-end Slate X2 carried on from where Envy X2 stopped while Slatebook X2 is a high end companion to Slate 7 with a great price of $480.
