BlackBerry 10.2 update will bring new features including unicode Emoji

After revealing their first software update to BlackBerry 10 devices including BlackBerry Z10 in the form of version BlackBerry 10.1, more details have come up regarding its next update BlackBerry 10.2. CrackBerry is quoting the BlackBerry’s Product Manager Michael Clewley in what the new BlackBerry 10.2 update will be bringing in terms of a list of changes:

  • Setting a time to remember item – I can confirm this will be supported 10.2
  • Standard Unicode Emojis – I can confirm this will be supported 10.2. More details as available
  • Multiple Alarms – I can confirm this will be supported 10.2. More details as it becomes available
  • Level 1 Notifications – I can confirm we’ll bring this feature to BlackBerry 10 for 10.2. As details come available, I’ll keep you updated

Michael Clewley repeated the fact that the BlackBerry 10.2 beta SDK will be coming in June and the BlackBerry 10.2 OS update will be released within this year. Michael Clewley revealed about the update through his BBM Channel which you can add through PIN C00014277.

To remind you, the BlackBerry 10.1 update was revealed 5 weeks ago for BlackBerry Z10 and it brought more than a dozen new features. Some of the chief features include PIN-to-PIN messaging and improved attachment support in BlackBerry Hub, personalized notifications, improved text picker and fine cursor control and higher quality HDR option for pictures. A lot of small improvements were added like landscape mode for calendar, easier international dialing and improved red eye reduction in the photo editor.

A lot of people are still waiting to get their hands on a BlackBerry 10.1 update. You can do that by checking for alerts in the notification section of the BlackBerry Hub, if any or manually going to Software Updates section and checking for updates. The update is applied without the need to back up the Smartphone and data.
