If you are looking to buy a branded affordable tablet, this is the best time to do so. As part of Father’s Day promotion, Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets are selling significantly cheaper than their retail price. The promotion is valid till Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16.

Barnes & Noble is offering the 8 GB Nook HD for $129 which is $70 less than its retail price while the 16 GB version is being offered for $149 which is $80 less than its $229 retail price. Nook HD+ has undergone even bigger drop, from $269 to $149 for the 16 GB version and $299 to $179 for the 32 GB version. Since the 16 GB version of both the tablets is retailing for the same discounted price, it is common sense to go for Nook HD+ if the bigger screen isn’t a problem for you.

Nook Promotion

This is not the first time that Barnes & Noble is giving such a great promotion on its tablets. It has given a similar promotion on the same tablets last month in celebration of Mother’s Day. The tablets are really good for their priceand Barnes & Noble offers a great alternative ecosystem for content, if not the best compared to Amazon. The tablets also received Google Play support recently making them an even more tempting buy.

To remind you, Nook HD is a 7 inch HD screen tablet with 1440 x 900 resolution and 243 PPI pixel density while Nook HD+ is a 9 inch Full HD screen tablet with 1920 x 1280 pixel resolution and 256 PPI pixel density. Both the tablets come with a dual core OMAP 4470 processor with the Nook HD’s processor clocked at 1.3 GHz while the Nook HD+’s processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. Both the tablets have same 1 GB RAM and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity.

Both the tablets run Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich which isn’t the latest OSbut it is definitely not a bad deal considering their prices. Both the tablets come with expandable memory via Micro SD card up to 32 GB and sport dual stereo speakers. Nook HD+ offers 10 hours of reading or 9 hours of video in terms of battery while Nook HD offers half an hour more during reading. Nook HD weighs 315 g while Nook HD+ weighs 515 g.
