LG has sent out a second set of invites to the tech press in the US for the launch of its much hyped and anticipated LG Optimus G2 Smartphone at August 7 event. The company already sent out invites for the event two weeks ago but did not reveal the details then. The latest invite, however, reveals it is going to be the launch of its new flagship LG Optimus G2. The company has already confirmed that the beast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor is going to power the successor of Optimus G.

As can be seen from the invite, it is hardly a teaser and clearly reveals the upcoming Optimus G2. The phone was recently reported to be come with 3 GB of RAM from Korean news site Naver. Our favorite and reliable leakster @evleaks also posted a picture of the Smartphone. To take on the competitor HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, it is rumored that LG is going for a premium edge-to-edge display by incorporating the Android buttons inside the display, just like the Nexus 4.

Previous rumors have also suggested some unique design or rather experiments with volume rocker key placement. It is suggested that volume rockers won’t occupy a place on the left or right side of the Smartphone, but rather on the rear, just below the camera module. Another unidentified piece of technology might be present between the volume keys, which some are speculating to be fingerprint sensor.

Here is a video teaser of the event LG released to create the buzz:

To remind you, LG Optimus G2 is expected to come with a full HD 1080p 5.2 inch touchscreen display with eye-watering 423 PPI pixel density. LG already confirmed the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 System on Chip (SoC) for its flagship. 800 SoC is capable of going to around 2.3 GHz clock frequency, and we are eager to see how the beast crushes his competition in benchmarks. The Smartphone is expected to be powered by 3 GB of RAM and come with a 13 MP camera slapped on its back. It is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a new Optimus UI on top.

Seeing the success of Nexus 4 by LG and knowing the fact that LG can bring some nifty enhancements to touch screens including a zero gap display, we are very eager to find out the official specifications of the monster flagship by LG. It was previously rumored that LG might drop the Optimus branding to just name it LG G2. Even though it is not officially confirmed, the name does look cleaner and symmetric without the legendary Optimus branding.
