Intel Atom powered Education tablets official specifications, features

Intel Education tablets

Intel revealed new 7 inch and 10 inch tablet on its website featuring an Intel Atom processor and running on the Android Operating System. The tablets are centered on educational purposes and will be apt for schools and colleges. The tablets bring Intel Education Software which packs applications such as Kno Textbook software and eReader, Lab Camera, ArtRage and other Intel educational resources. The complete specifications are given in the image below.

The 7 inch Education tablet also includes a USB port, a Micro SD card slot, an audio in/out combo, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Integrated speakers and microphone. It comes with dual cameras and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. In comparison, the 10 inch tablet skips the Micro SD card slot. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB port. Sadly, the 10 inch variant runs on older Android 4.0 ICS OS, which is a shame seeing that Android 4.3 has been revealed.

Intel revealed on their website:

The Intel® Education Tablets, available in 7-inch and 10-inch sizes, are designed specifically for education and built to meet students’ needs. The multi-touch display and e-Reader software enable students to access rich online content. Ultra-portability allows them to take the device to the field to capture data with the built-in camera and analyze it with Intel® Education Software.

Some of the innovative features that come with the tablets are:

  • Built-in tools that support project-based inquiry and mobile learning environments
  • Multi-touch display and e-Reader software to access online content
  • Front and rear cameras bringing scientific inquiry to life
  • Integrated speakers and microphone that enable rich multi-media content creation and viewing

The tablets also come with a Classroom Management software application to efficiently manage classrooms, and it brings the add-ons Parents Carefree (for parental controls), Theft Deterrent (for protecting and recovering your tablets if they get stolen) and McAfee AntiVirus Plus for protection against increasing Android malware. Software such as Kno Textbooks Software transforms the tablets into a virtual canvas, library or laboratory to paint or write on. Intel has revealed nothing about the pricing and availability now. We will keep you posted when more information gets out.
