On 24th February 2011, Google rolled out an update which was intended to make some major changes to page indexing and search algorithm techniques of its search engine. The update is refered to as Google Panda Algorithm update. It which hits million of websites (with bad content and “good” SEO) in a negative way and made many-a-webmasters cry.

Due to this Panda update, their traffic has been 20% to 90% fallen down compared to their previous stats. It seems that Google introduced some more parameters, including a system of review by a team of real people, who were assigned to continuously monitor the of the websites.

Bear in mind that people searching on Google typically don’t want to see shallow or poorly written content, content that’s copied from other websites, or information that are just not that useful. In addition, it’s important for webmasters to know that low quality content on part of a site can impact a site’s ranking as a whole. For this reason, if you believe you’ve been impacted by this change you should evaluate all the content on your site and do your best to improve the overall quality of the pages on your domain. Removing low quality pages or moving them to a different domain could help your rankings for the higher quality content.”

The Good and The Bad impact of Google Panda Update

Google Panda Update is responsible for traffic down-slide of thousands of websites or blogs which are continuously re-writing or copying the content from other websites and ranking their pages high in search results using some SEO techniques. And as the traffic is lost, ultimately their income also went down. This in short means loss to the website owner. So, this is the bad impact of this update.

One thing I must tell you that all websites has not been affected because of this update but only those websites which used certain SEO techniques or some other techniques to rank their low content websites high in search results has been penalized.

But this update appeared as an angel from heaven for bloggers or website owners who just focus on writing good content and not indulge in SEO techniques. Content farm websites have been hit badly by Google and thus it has improved the rankings of original content producing websites. This is the good impact of this update.
