After the phenomenon success of little brother Galaxy S, Samsung announced the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S II at MWC 11 (Mobile World Congress 2011). Inspite of having several worthy competitors like N8, Desire, Galaxy S was huge hit. This big brother comes with something extra, lots of new features and amazing hardware specifications which can make it a iPhone 5 killer.
So, here is the review of the specs of the device based on the features announced by Samsung.
The phone is built up with Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, Dual-Core is what comes for performance. The Display size has been increased to 4.3″ unlike it Galaxy S having 4.0″ coupled with SUPER AMOLED display panel. However the resolution is still the same (480×800) which could have been greater for better display. Like every phone today in the market, it even comes with Gorilla glass for scratch resistance display.
The phone is even more slim than the Galaxy S having dimensions 125.3 in height, 66.1 in width, 8.5 mm thick. Wireless connectivity includes 3G supporting up to 21Mbps, WiFi and the latest Bluetooth 3.0
Camera is what most of the people consider, bundled with 8MP camera with LED Flash supporting resolution 3264×2448 the phone seriously can replace all digital camera guys. Camera feature includes Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilisation like most of the smart phones today in the market. Still photographs are surely awesome but the cherry on the cake is its video camera. Galaxy S II comes with HD Video recording, well not HD Ready but full HD Yes, it supports 1080p video recording at 30fps rate which means you can catch all your memories and watch them on HDTV. However here bigger is not better, 1080p recording eats lots of memory space so its good for casual recording.
The Phone comes with optional disk space 16GB / 32GB, for better smart phones its always a smart decision to invest in greater capacity. Along with its dual-core processor, it comes with 1GB RAM which almost beats every Downloading RIG, better RAM and processor gives it good vow for multi-tasking.
The phone comes with Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) the latest version of Android, which can make the optimise use of the given hardware specifications.
As it comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) it almost supports every file which includes, MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/ H.264/H.263 player for video playback and MP3/WAV/eAAC+/AC3/FLAC player for audio playback. It even comes with Audio/Video editor, TV-Out, Digital Compass and Adobe Flash 10.1 support making it a perfect phone for web surfing too.
The third most important thing comes to battery performance, It comes with 1650mAh battery but as we didn’t get the hands-on battery performance and since it comes with extensive features the battery performance will slightly be lower.
The phone is not released yet but is expected to be made available till Q1 of 2011, mostly April – May 2011.
