The highly in demand Samsung Galaxy S which now comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), gets a new upgrade. Well its not software upgrade but a hardware upgrade. Samsung has already announced the Galaxy S II at MWC 11 (Mobile World Congress 2011).

Dmitriy Ryabinin from has got the comparision of the Samsung phones where the hardware specifications of ‘2011 Edition’ of Samsung Galaxy S has been revealed.

According to the specifications, Samsung has made just the performance upgrade. Mostly the phone has the same hardware, as its older edition but apart from that has only some other minor upgrades.

Samsung Galaxy S ‘2011 Edition’ comes with the superb 1.4GHz processor, not dual-core, but single core from Qualcomm. This will surely increase the performance of the phone, As a result, one will no longer have to engage in overclocking.

Better the processor, more is the power consumption, and so to maintain the battery life of the phone, the battery has also been upgraded to 1650mAh.

Bundled with a 4.0″ screen, same as the first edition, the phone comes with Super AMOLED (SAMOLED) display panel which is available in two flavors, the 8GB and the 16GB flavor. Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) is what every new phone gets and so does this one. In spite of all this, the 3G bandwidth (HSPA+) has been increased from 7.2 Mbps to 14.4 Mbps thus delivering more speed for video calling and data service.

Samsung Russia has confirmed this phone, which will come with metal back and named as Samsung Galaxy S Plus for markets other than Russia.

This phone is expected to be launched at the end of this month pricing approximately $846.
