Unusual and interesting mobile concepts

The Car mobile
Got some free time to  spend? Lets take a look at a few interesting mobile concepts that are waiting to take the form of a cellular device sooner or later.

The ‘Car’ Mobile: What happens when your ‘phone’ suddenly starts speeding around the roads? Not possible? Well this unusual cell phone from Cayenne does just that! In fact, it gives ‘Speed-Dialing’ a whole new dimension. Shaped up in the form of a Porsche 911 car, this device from Cayenne, based in Hong Kong, sports microSD memory card support, 2 megapixel digital camera, MP3 player and a 262k colour screen. Available at $165 on ebay, it runs on dual band GSM service.  Porsche lovers, if you want your ‘car’ to be always with you, then purchase this one right away!

The Human phone: The Elfoid Concept caught many-a-eyes when it was unveiled in March 2011. Developed at Osaka University and with help from NTT DoCoMo, it is a cell phone vaguely structured in the form of a human. And guess what? It tickles you when you get a call. In return, you can talk to its belly while answering a call and it replies to you via its face, playing the voice of the person on the other side of the call. The speaker for the phone is inside the head and a LED in the chest turned blue when the phone is in use and is red in standby mode. So with this phone, you can actually do some ‘belly talking’ 😀

The Nokia 888: Hate having a cell phone with a stereotype form? Want to break free and experiment with its design every single day? Then the Nokia 888 (still a concept) is for you. One day its your bracelet, another day its your mirror. Someday it’ll be your alarm clock and what not! It is light, simple and carefree. You can change its form according to your needs during the day. You might wonder how is it a cell phone. Well it actually takes the form of a good old mobile device when you intend to talk. Just make sure you do not gift one to Naomi Cambell. She’ll give you back in pieces!

Tarati the Touchless Cell Phone: Tarati, in Sanskrit meaning though, symbolizes rewriting cell phone history. This out-of-the-box concept allows users to dial numbers and connect with people around by passing fingers through the key ‘holes’ in its body without actually the need to ‘touch’ anywhere. This concept has got the best of the most basic feature of a mobile device, making/receiving calls in the simplest manner without much weight. Its design reflects human connectivity in a less material/mechanical but more sensual way. But people with fat fingers, watch out before you  get ‘trapped’ !! 😀

Soft Mobile Concept: Ever imagined a plastic phone on which u can sit as long as you want, make it your temporary table-tennis ball or even throw at someone in anger? Well this Soft Mobile Concept by Roman Kriheli depicts a cell phone encased in a flexible plastic housing with a soft polymer inserted between the microchip module and the casing.  The display and keys are located on the surface itself with a plastic-paper feel but the ink incorporated in it can change its position when affected by electric signal, called asElectroWetting. The display itself looks like paper, but is so quick that it can even display video. Voila !
