YouTube is undoubtedly our trusted resource for videos. Be it a movie theatrical or song video from world famous rock band, you can enjoy it on YouTube for free. YouTube even allows its users to upload their favorite videos through their account, which is actually a reason of redundancy of videos with similar name. This makes it difficult to find out official and genuine videos several times.

Till today, what we could do was let all relevant videos buffer and then go through them to find out which one is official. While doing so, many of us must have thought why we do not have a utility at hand or feature that could simply  preview YouTube videos before watching them? Well, YouTube itself has made precision for you. Read below to find out three ways of previewing videos before watching them on YouTube.

A Sneak Peak

While watching any movie or short film on YouTube, we are excited about what will happen next? Well, now you can actually take a sneak peak into what is going to happen at given time spot. Just hover your mouse onto any time position you want to preview and a thumbnail preview will appear floating over seek bar. You can just click there and video will start from that point.

An Array of Thumbnails

Suppose you are watching a TV series like Sherlock where each and every detail can be linked in later scenes. And there you are in concluding parts of the episode where Sherlock Holmes make reference to the previous part in episode pointing out look on the face of victim. This is the time where your memory rebels and what you can do is go back and watch that scene. Where to stop while hovering through seek bar? Here is where an array of thumbnails can help you. A click and a tray of thumbnails will appear with each one showing scene at that particular time. Searching made quite easy, isn’t it?

Zoom into Seek Bar

YouTube is currently loaded with many full time movies. Now imagine that you are watching one such movie with long seek bar. You want to watch that very scene at that particular instant but it is hard to locate that minute length scene on seek bar of 2 hours length. Well, YouTube allows you to zoom into seek bar. This feature allows seek bar to zoom into 1 minute and 30 seconds time slot at any moment so that locating that exact second become easier.

YouTube is fun to explore and with these features, now you can have more fun with it. What you think? Share your views below.

Though Windows 8 Consumer Preview Event was the biggest software release attraction at Mobile World Congress, Mozilla’s new mobile operating system also attracted many pupils. Named as “Boot to Gecko”, this new operating system from Mozilla is developed using HTML5 and is aimed at most of today’s Android devices along with some low-profiles phones. Here is a quick glance at features of this new mobile operating system.

Open Source Operating System

Boot to Gecko is open source mobile operating system like Android. Officials claim developers post source code updates as soon as it is finalized unlike Android who sometimes hold back updates source code. Companies like Telefonica has shown interest in creating devices running Boot To Gecko. Mozilla is expecting that more companies will show interest in their new mobile OS considering it will work best for low-end devices. Being open source, Mozilla has decided to allow manufacturers to make tweaks in OS as they want including changes in interface.

Boot Speed and UI

Mozilla Boot to Gecko is not fastest but offers faster boot time than average Android Smartphone. Mozilla’s booth at MWC 2012 displayed Gecko on Samsung Galaxy SII, on which this new OS looked stunning. Lock screen resembles to that of Android with time displaying at the center. However, unlocking resembles to Windows Phone 7.5 where user swipes finger up or down to unlock.

Once unlocked, at the top there is a status bar containing battery indicator, Wi-Fi indicator, data connection, time and more. Home screen is divided into 3 x 3 matrix of “tiles” like sections with each dedicated to some app. With 3 such different panels, you get 27 total “tiles” to play around with. Swiping through them is very smooth.

Apps and Graphics

It is HTML 5 support that allows Gecko devices to use web apps directly on device. Best thing is running web apps doesn’t kill processor capability and installation of these apps is as easy as pasting URL of particular app by locating where it is present on web. One more benefit is you can run these apps even when Gecko device is not connected to Internet. Though Boot to Gecko Marketplace is not live as of now but Mozilla is planning to make it live sometime soon.

If screen is supporting HD playback, Boot to Gecko allows them to run on device. It also supports OpenGL bases animation displaying excellent graphics and deep, vivid colors. Running on Linux kernel, Boot to Gecko requires access only to few hardware components like GPS, accelerometer, camera and more. For Android devices, Gecko will put its code on top of Android’s hardware abstraction layer to make it run smooth.

Based on Linux Kernel, designed using HTML5 and soon to be flooded with different apps, Boot To Gecko can be real competitor in coming years. However, when a device running this new OS from Mozilla camp will get released, picture about future of this OS will be more clear then.

Apple has caught attention of all mobile experts currently present at MWC by announcing an official iPad related event on March 7 in San Francisco. There had been rumors about this event to take place in first week of March and now it seems that those rumors have turned out to be true. At The Geeks Club, we will be live blogging about iPad event on March 7 as we did at the launch of iPhone 4S. Apple invite has reached to media biggies and it reads “We have something you really have to see. And Touch”.

There have been many rumors about specification of next generation iPad. According to latest ones, iPad 3 will feature similar size as that of its predecessor but with highest resolution screen ever. Named as Retina Display, if believed to be true, display of iPad3 can boast a resolution of 2048 x 1536.
