Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 was launched today and made available to gamers on PS3, XBOZ and PC platforms. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a first person shooter video game wherein gamers play the role of a soldier on a modern battlefield. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is currently available in stores for $60 (Rs. 3000/-).
Modern warfare 3 is one of the games most awaited games of the year. Earlier this year there were extensive speculations of Modern Warfare 3 being a top seller. Analysts believe that Modern Warfare 3 will generate over US$ 1.1 billion in the first six weeks of its launch making it the biggest launch in the gaming industry. Judging by the response received on the first day of its launch, Modern Warfare 3 is all set to replace Call of Duty Black Ops as the best selling game of the year.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will face direct competition from Electronic Arts’ Battlefield 3 which is a similar first person shooter video game. Both the games are pretty similar as both of them put the gamer in a modern day battlefield. Metacritic scored Battlefield 3 (XBOX 360 version) 84 out of 100 while Modern Warfare 3 (XBOX 360) received 90 out of 100. GameRankings reviewed and scored Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (XBOX 360 version) 89.28%. Five out of five stars were awarded by The Daily Telegraph to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. With both the games scoring similar it will be up to the gamers to vote for the best game of the two.
As for Activision, each year around this time a new Call of Duty game is launched, but this year the stakes are higher with expectations of sales breaking all gaming industry records.
