How to find the Not Found URLs and remove them from Google Search Index using Google Webmaster Tools..
Step 1: Just Login to your webmaster account, then go to your desired URL’s dashboard.
Step 2: From there go to Diagnostics and click on Crawl errors. There in the Web tab, you will find the “Not Found” links indexed on Google Search index. Just open this in your first tab of your browser.
Step 3: At the same time Click on Site configuration and open it in new tab (this will be very easy – just copy paste the URLs).
Step 4: After the step 3, click on Crawler access and click on the Remove URL (last tab). Now, you will find a New removal request button.
Step 5: Now, click on the New removal request button and copy the URL one by one (which I mentioned in the Step 2) from the first tab and paste it here in this tab (New removal request)
Step 6: Now you will get another confirmation page and then just click on Submit request button. Voila! Your request has taken and it will take approximately 24 hours to remove from Google search index.
It will show as pending request until it removed from index. Now, repeat the step 5 and Step 6 until you have removed all the “Not found” URLs from the index. Make sure that all the URLs are removed. Keep on visiting this Google Webmaster page once in a week to keep your search index clean.
I hope this tips will help you to gain your previous position in the search index and helped you to overcome your search index problems.
