Google has officially released the Play Games app which it has announced at its I/O conference in May. It allows the users to save their games in the cloud storage space allotted to their Google accounts. Besides allowing users to cloud sync game saves for cross device gaming, it also allows gamers to match players, leadersboards and discover new games to bring it closer to Apple’s Game Centre.
It is a social hub for all the gamers and brings them together at one place. The new “Account” feature will let the users to save their progress within their respective cloud storage. Even though it will be a dedicated app for mobile gaming, the games would still be accessible from the Google Play Store. Both Smartphone and tablet users can download the app from Google Play Store.
In related news, Google pushed out a new release for Google Hangouts app. Google Hangouts is a Google Talk replacement app that integrates instant messaging to Google+. It allows users to hang out one to one or in group conversations and is synced across all devices and platforms.
Here is a complete Change Log of the v1.1 of Hangouts app:
- Added more emoji!
- We added some butter to Hangouts to make it run faster and slicker.
- Fixed a bunch of bugs.
Emojis are stickers that people can send to one another depicting a feeling or an emotion. The trend got on since BlackBerry Messenger and Whatsapp craze took off and people shifted from conventional SMS messages. The butter reference in the Hangouts is in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update which made the user interface smooth and fast. Even though the update is welcomed, there are still many features missing in the Hangouts like ability to sort contacts by name and the absence of “invisible” status. You can get the Hangouts app for Android from the Google Play Store.
