iOS 5.1 is into beta stage and completely accessible to the developers. It already gave us many update hints and therefore all the compatible devices are reported to be getting the next iOS 5.1 update on March 9. The report emerged after Apple sent eleven new profiles to the carriers located in Japan, France, Greece, Finland, and Sweden.
Apple pushes these profile updates to ensure that your network connection works correctly after you have been updated to iOS 5.1. Carriers will be pushing these profile updates at the same time.
Devices o be supported by iOS 5.1,
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod Touch 4G
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPad 1
- iPad 2
iOS 5.1 update will bring improvements in the iPhone 4S battery life, some bug fixes from the existing iOS 5.0.1 and updates for Siri. It is also expected to bring Siri support for the iPad. Siri update in turn will bring support for additional languages including Mandarin Chinese. It is also expected that this update will make Siri more fluent with the Russian and Japanese accent. If you have not yet upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 do upgrade before 9th March in order to enjoy the untethered jailbreak.
If you are already running iOS 5.0.1, make sure you save the SHSH Blobs of your device. This can be done using Redsn0w, iFaith or even using iSHSHit from your device. Saving your SHSH blobs will allow you to downgrade on iOS 5.0.1 even after you have updated to iOS 5.1.
Jailbreak for iOS 5.1 will not be released so soon, that’s why for jailbreaked users I will recommend you to stick to iOS 5.0.1 itself.
