Now there are many Smart phones in the market which are giving iPhone a tough Competition. And only Android phones have got this much of potential to fight with Apple iPhone in the market. But no one expected that Samsung Galaxy R will come in the list of competitors of iPhone.
The Samsung Galaxy R a fine addition to Samsung’s portfolio and one that tries to copy much of what the S2 delivers. But it is not as light or as thin as the S2 – the chassis has a touch more bulk (at 0.04 inches) to it and is made from plastic, with a brush metal removable back that hides the battery. This device is pulling off the sales of iPhone as well as it’s giving tough time to its Android neighbours from HTC and LG. We were not that behind to grab this one up. Though we didn’t manage to get it into our gadget lot but we got enough amount of time to play with Samsung Galaxy R and that was enough for us to tell us our experience about the phone. If you are aiming for Samsung Galaxy R then read on. This might help you to settle all your thoughts about Samsung Galaxy R before spending your buck. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy R is one impressive smartphone that offers plenty of processing power packed up in one pretty slim body.
Taking it out of the Box
A USB data cable and a Phone charger come along with the phone inside the box. A user manual of the phone is also there. You don’t get any headphones bundled with the phone.
Phone is very good to watch. The quality of the materials used for shell of the phone is really very good. Dimensions are 125 x 66 x 9.5 mm. You might think that it must be difficult to handle but we were absolutely comfortable after handling this device. The weight of the phone is around 135 grams. The phone has got a huge screen of 4.2 inches, so you can enjoy all your photos and videos as well as browsing to the full extent.
On the right side of the phone there’s a volume rocker and with the help of that you can control the volume while calling, playing music and videos. On the left side of the phone you won’t get any kind of buttons. On the bottom of the phone a microUSB port is present for data transfers as well as for charging your phone. Features and Performance of Samsung Galaxy R
Resolution wasn’t as crisp as on a Super AMOLED display, colours pinged when we watched demo video on the unit. The Samsung Galaxy R is up to date too – it has been given Android 2.3 and is also draped in Samsung’s Touch Wiz UI. All of this worked great on the model we were fondling. Samsung seemed to have trimmed the edges of the specs of the Samsung Galaxy R, rather than cut corners.
Sound quality of the phone is good. We got decent music output from the phone. The call clarity of the phone is pretty good. There is 3.5 mm jack is also given in the phone. Headphone was bundled with the phone. And for testing you can use earphone we used “Philips SHH 7810” earphone. We got good sound quality on the headphones and overall we were satisfied after we got what we expected.
Phone’s processing is absolutely flawless. A 1GHz Tegra 2 chip has been added and the 1.2GHz chip of the S2 has been taken out. This does mean, though, that Tegra 2 games will be at your fingertips with the Samsung Galaxy R. It passes on the 1.2 GHz ExynosSoC in favor of NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chip. So now you can figure out yourself how well the phone is performing. The User Interface of the phone is pretty good. The phone comes with Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread)
Samsung Galaxy R has got a primary camera of 5.0 Megapixel. The camera allows you to take still pictures at 2592х1944 pixels(You can also take pictures at resolution lower than this). The quality of the still pictures was good but still we were expecting a bit more colorful photos than what we got. There is front camera also available in this phone. The camera also allows you to record 720p Videos. We don’t have any sort of complaints with the video recording of the phone. The video generated after recording were good. The absence of dedicated camera button makes you to tap the screen, when you want to click a pic or you want to record a video.
Storage isn’t a problem in the Samsung Galaxy R. Phone has got 8 GB of internal storage and you can expand it up to 32 GB via microSD card. For inserting the microSD card you need to open up yor phone from the back. We’d recommend you to buy a 32 GB card as you would like to carry some videos, music and apps as well as you need some space for keeping your recorded videos in the phone.
Samsung Galaxy R has got a Standard battery Li-Ion 1650 mAh. We didn’t have that much amount of time to test the battery of the phone but a reader of our blog who purchased this phone told us that its lasts long for four and a half days on an average. At that time he used to make calls, hear music, watch a few videos, and click some pictures and most of time used to browse the internet.
According to the creators of the phone the stand-by time of the phone is of 620 hours and you talk for 9 hourswith it.
