Amidst the reports of iPhone rumors, many people might have forgotten that Apple is also expected to reveal its iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2. Even though we have spotted many other rear shells of both products in the recent past, high resolution images were missing till now. Thanks to Sonny Dickson, we now have the high resolution believable images of the upcoming iPad Mini 2.

shell outside

Sonny Dickson has proved to be a reliable source as it has regularly leaked high resolution images on Apple products in the past. The site also leaked high quality images of iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. The images leaked by Sonny Dickson shows a cellular variant of iPad Mini 2 with the top area of the shell covered in plastic in such a way so as to improve the strength of the signal.

shell inside

The image of the inside of the shell also shows the SIM tray, volume buttons, power buttons, lightning dock connector and camera hole in the casing. Specification details were not revealed by Sonny. Earlier rumors suggested that iPad Mini 2 might come with a Samsung Retina display. iPad Mini 2 is expected to feature a 7.9 inch Retina display and will run on iOS 7. Apple has not officially revealed anything in this regard, but it might reveal something in its September 10 event. Earlier rumors suggest that we might see iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 sometime in October.

In a related report from Mac Rumors, iPhone 5S is expected to come with A7 processor which is said to be 31% faster than the current processor in iPhone 5 and will be a 64-bit processor. It is also expected to sport some motion tracking technology whose details and purpose is still unclear.

iPhone 5S Gold

According to 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman:

We’ve independently heard claims that some of the iPhone 5S internal prototypes include 64-bit processors. It’s unclear if 64-bit will make the cut, but it’s been in testing. We’re told that the 64-bit processing will make animations, transparencies, and other iOS 7 graphical effects appear much more smoothly than on existing iOS Devices…

iPhone 5S is expected to feature a same design as iPhone 5, but it will have a faster processor, more RAM and is expected to run on iOS7 out of the box. Both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are expected to be announced at an Apple event on September 10 and could go on sale as early as on 20th of September.

iPhone rumors never stop coming. We have seen the iPhone concepts, and we know that Apple’s next iPhone event will happen on September 10. But these new sets of leaked images are going to blow you away. Sonny Dickson has released about 70 high resolution images including iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S side-by-side and their components and internals as well.

Sonny Dickson’s uploaded images include the entire intact casings at one extreme to ribbon cables, display assemblies, vibration motor, audio jack, SIM trays, the front and rear cameras and attaching mounts for these components on the other extreme. Sadly though, the logic board is not featured among the leaked photos. The Gold/Champagne colored iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S were also featured side-by-side in some photos.

iPhone 5S Gold

The Gold iPhone 5S casing also features white colored stripes running at the top and bottom and also showcases a new pill shaped camera flash module leaked in a number of rumors. iPhone 5S is expected to feature a non-rounded flash with dual LEDs, supporting both white and yellow lights depending upon ambient light conditions. This is unlike iPhone 5’s camera flash which is round. The plastic polycarbonate casing body panels of low cost iPhone 5C are leaked in White, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green colors with a round camera lens and LED flash.

The Red iPhone 5C variant is expected to have a Black colored display panel. iPhone 5C’s press renders was also leaked recently by a Romanian publication  The press photo features the White colored variant of the iPhone 5C running on iOS 7. Unlike previous leaks, the front panel is also white, and the back of the phone features the leaked polycarbonate body panel in glossy White, with a round camera lens and LED flash, the Apple logo and iPhone branding.

The press leak looks believable. It even sports the pill shaped volume rocker on the left side of the phone accompanied by a mute key, which were also leaked in a recent leak. All of this points towards the upcoming launch of the low cost iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S on Apple’s September 10 event. You can also check out our previously leaked rumors, specifications and reports for low cost iPhone.

AllThingsD’s report reveals that Apple will unveil its next iPhone on September 10. The event is not confirmed as of now by Apple and any other official source. The event is expected to bring the announcement of the next Generation iPhone, which will be dubbed iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 or iPhone 5C or any other combination of these three depending on the number of variants and level of upgrades.

iPhone 6

AllThingsD also notes the reports of a new lower-cost iPhone alongside the expected upgrade and/or successor to the current iPhone 5. Apple’s global profits, even though high, continued to decline in the wake of mid level and low-cost Android devices. Apple is expected to bring a new change in its strategy and product lineup to address the growing popularity of the mid-level and entry-level Smartphone market.

Apple has been offering its year old and two year old models at a discount of $100 and $200 less than its current model, but the strategy does not seem to be catching on. The customers with a limited budget are being wooed away by Smartphones with latest Android versions and hardware technologies by the likes of Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony and other major OEMs.

The next generation iPhone is rumored to come with two display sizes of 4.7 and 5.7 inches, and there are strong rumors of a cheaper variant iPhone 5C with plastic clad shell cover, which we also reported in the past. Apart from the regular upgrades of making next-Gen iPhone thinner and lighter with various color availability, there is a likelihood of a fingerprint sensor as a consequence of Apple acquiring Authentec last year. The iPhone will run on recently announced iOS 7, which is also expected to be rolled on to other iOS devices around the same time.

A few days ago, high resolution images on the back housing of white iPhone 5C was leaked by Sonny Dickson which looked very real and believable. Apple is also scheduled to unveil a refreshed version of its iPad along with a new iPad Mini and iPad 5 in the later part of this year. If the event is anything like last year, it might bring a lot more than AllThingsD expects.

Some of the best things in life are not real, and when it comes to gadgets, concepts come closer to dream gadgets than anything else. A set of concept images for Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch which has been developed based on a recently discovered patent application and an edge-to-edge iPhone 6 Retina 2 display concept by Johnny Plaid has fired the imagination of aficionados and geeks alike. ConceptiPhone video by Ran Avni has taken things one step further and rendered the whole upcoming iPhone concept into motion.

Coming first to iPhone 6 concept by artist and designer Johnny Plaid, the edge-to-edge concept will give iPhone 6 more screen real estate than Moto X and the flash for this ridiculously thin iPhone 6 has been moved completely opposite to the camera, paving the way for a noise cancellation microphone. The new Retina screen with REALD layered display concept will satisfy most of the screen critics, even though in an imagined world.

iPhone 6

The MagSafe iPhone charger will simplify the things but will bring the annoying nuisance of dealing with another charger. The bottom of the display gets rid of home button and integrates multi-touch gesture support with clever shortcuts such as holding the center to activate Siri and an app-specific left and right functionality at the bottom. In contrast, the iPhone 5S concept video by Ran Avni brings a 4.8 inch Full HD Retina Plus Gorilla Glass 3 display iPhone packing 1.3 GHz Quad core CPU, 2 GB RAM, iOS 7, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, 10 MP rear camera and eight colors to choose from.

iPhone 6 vs iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 vs rumored iPhone Mini

Coming to the Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch concept released by Voucher Codes Pro based on a recently discovered patent application fires the imagination of wearable technology enthusiasts. The concept brings forth a Smartwatch with a bendable display and a variety of colors to choose from. The strap will be a removable one and the concept Smartwatch will run on a trimmed down version of Android OS with Samsung’s TouchWiz on top.

The concept Smartwatch could be used to link up with other devices and technologies by Samsung or simply as a stand-alone product. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch is reportedly expected to be revealed at Samsung’s Unpacked 2013 event at IFA in Berlin, along with Galaxy Note 3.

While the concepts are enough to take anyone by fire, the mere facts that a true edge-to-edge display is years away and the flexible displays have been in production for a while now are enough to bring us back to reality which clearly suggests that the concept might take years to materialize. But who are we to judge? Keep the child in you alive and keep dreaming for these concepts because you still can’t own them!

We have been getting iPad and iPad Mini rumors for quite a while now. In an earlier post, we reported that Apple was facing delays with its next-Gen iPad Mini due to supplier issues with the next-generation Retina display. The solution was to delay the launch to early 2014 or to release the iPad Mini without a Retina display.

iPad Mini 2

According to a latest report from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Apple has decided that the new iPad Mini will come with a Retina Display after all. The Retina Display will be provided by its biggest competitor Samsung, and also by Sharp and LG display as decided before. The Cupertino-based Apple originally wanted only LG Display and Sharp to provide the high resolution 7.9 inch displays for the iPad Mini, but to ensure streamlined supply, it has been forced to go to Samsung’s display division for the next generation iPad Mini.

The excited users should, however, remember that such supplier related leaks are often unreliable. Moreover, we know that Apple always test components before finalizing on a design. Therefore, you must take this news with a pinch of salt. The relationship between Apple and Samsung have been bad since the time companies sued each other for patent copyright infringements, but it degraded even further when Apple discontinued Samsung as its chip manufacturer for iPhones. Lately, Samsung has surpassed Apple iPhone and the iPad with its Android powered Galaxy devices and a cold war have ensued between the two.

iPad Mini

Coming back to iPad Mini, no other details are known about the specifications of the upcoming tablet. We can expect faster processor and more RAM along with the presence of iOS 7 on the next generation 7.9 inch iPad Mini. Apple released iPad Mini last year as an after effect of consumer’s huge cry and demand for the same. Apple is known to make its products faster and lighter when going from one generation to the next, so that too will be in the upgrade itinerary.

Some analysts are debating over the fact that if such a high resolution display is required on the iPad Mini or not. The first generation iPad Mini was successful without it and fitting a Retina display on iPad Mini 2 will only increase its price. Apple is rumored to be working on an affordable iPhone too, and a 13 inch iPad and 4+ inch iPhone are also allegedly being tested by Apple. It is not known how many displays will be provided by Samsung. Earlier rumors said that LG will provide about 2 to 3 million 7.9 inch displays for iPad Mini 2.

Apple has released the new Apple iOS 7 beta 4 version for the developers to download and experience. It will come with a lot of new features, layouts and designs including a shortcut bar accessible from the bottom of the screen that allows you to change settings etc. It also brings a lot of UI changes and visual tweaks in Safari and mail apps. It also brings unlimited apps in the multitasking view, Siri Q&A feature, faster Compass calibration and new resolution switch in iPad while running iPhone apps.

Here is what Apple has to say regarding its iOS 7 beta 4 release:

Apple iOS 7 beta 4 for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and Xcode 5 Developer Preview 4 are now available on the iOS Dev Center. Download these new releases today and start developing your apps to take advantage of new multitasking APIs, dynamic motion controls in UIKit, AirDrop, Sprite Kit, enhanced video APIs, new features in Game Center and Map Kit, and so much more.

According to a related report by, iOS 7 beta 4 release also includes a folder named “BiometricKitUI” which is present in the Accessibility section of the OS and contains text strings related to a VoiceOver tutorial. The instructions guide on how to use the fingerprint sensor on the iPhone thus confirming that the next iPhone might come with a fingerprint sensor.

Here is the text string pertaining to the fingerprint sensor usage instructions:

Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their left hand while touching the Home button with their thumb

Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their right hand while touching the Home button with their thumb

A fingerprint that changes colour during the setup process.

Recognition is %@ complete

Earlier reports also indicated that Apple has selected the Taiwanese chip maker Chipbond for manufacturing a number of components for the iPhone 5S including a touch display driver, a fingerprint sensor support hardware and a Near Field Communications (NFC) functionality. Apple also acquired mobile security firm AuthenTec last year. The firm makes the hardware for above functionalities which also indicated that Apple is prepping to include them in the upcoming iPhone since iPhone 5 did not come with them despite strong rumors of the same.

Even though Apple iPhone 5 has the largest screen among all the iPhones till date, it has the smallest screen size between all OEMs and competitors’ flagship devices. It might change soon as the new report from the Wall Street Journal reveals that Apple is testing larger screen sizes for its iPhones and iPads. If the above report is true, Apple might be looking forward to revealing a new product and it will be the first new product since iPad launch in 2010.

iPhone 6

According to reports which cites officials at Apple suppliers as the source, Apple has asked for prototypes of iPhones measuring over 4 inch screen size. The iPad display prototype size measures just less than 13 inches. The current generation iPhone 5 has a 4 inch screen; the full sized iPad has a 9.7 inch display while the iPad Mini has a 7.9 inch display.

The report from WSJ added:

The tests with suppliers seem to suggest that Apple is exploring ways to capture diversifying customer needs at a time when many mobile device makers offer Smartphones and tablets in various sizes.

It is not clear whether Apple will bring these large screen devices in the market, or it will be dead before anyone knows. Apple is known to test a lot of products and designs, but stick with a few. Even if the report bears any weight, it will be some time before we actually see any new product debut. Apple is known to react slowly to bigger screen devices, which was apparent from iPhone 5 getting a 4 inch screen after a long cry from consumers.

Apple family

Apple suppliers reportedly started manufacturing the next generation iPhone last month. We also reported that Apple is working on a budget iPhone which will come in various colors and will start selling at $349. IPad 5 will start manufacturing by the end of this month and iPad Mini 2 display is not yet finalized between the Retina and non-Retina offering. All the new products will come with new iOS 7. We expect that the 13 inch tablet, if ever materialized, could run on either iOS or Mac, given the proximity of its screen size to Apple Mac devices.

Apple has reported less than expected profits for the last quarter for the first time in a decade. Samsung with the multitude of screen sized devices has appeared as Apple’s biggest competitor. It was also the leading Smartphone OEM with 33% of the market share while Apple lagged behind with 18% share only. It was also reported some time back that Samsung is working on a 12.2 inch Galaxy Note tablet and expects to release it before the Apple’s big screen offering. If this happens, it could be a big blow to Apple. We will keep an eye out and will keep you posted.

It has been raining rumors and images for the budget iPhone, also dubbed as iPhone 5S and iPhone Lite by many. All the pictures confirm that the size of both the regular iPhone 5 and the budget iPhone will be same more or less with the only differences in looks and specifications. The affordable iPhone will also come in many different colors to compete with Android devices. Check out the images by TechKiddy which clearly reveals that iPhone 5 will be thinner as compared to the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 vs iPhone Lite

The rumors also add that iPhone Lite will be available in two different versions: Zenovo and Zegato/Bertone, with minor differences between both. Zenovo will be powered by a Samsung H5P dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, FDD 4G connectivity and Bluetooth while the Zegato will be powered by a Samsung H6P dual core processor and TDD 4G connectivity targeted for Chinese markets. Zenovo will be cheaper than Zegato. The blog also revealed that the iPhone 6 premium version will be available in gray, silver and Gold colors and Apple will move away from Black and White colors.

According to previous rumors, the budget iPhone will come in three different versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB each priced at $349, $449 and $549 respectively. This is really an attractive price to look forward to and might actually stir up the market if launched at such a price in the hands of the consumers. Earlier rumors also said that the clock speed of the dual core processor will be 1.23 GHz and the budget iPhone will run on iOS 7, which is expected to be released in September. There are no details about the launch or announcement of budget iPhone, but end of the year or early 2014 is expected.

In related news, iPad Mini 2 might not feature a Retina display, unlike previously rumored. Due to unsteady supply, Apple might be forced to delay the upcoming iPad Mini, originally expected in the fall season. Apple might be forced to push forward the release to Q1 of 2014 or it might choose to release it on schedule without a Retina Display. It can also be debated whether the iPad Mini needs a high resolution display or not, since the first generation iPad Mini was successful without it.

Some analysts are even suggesting that there might be two different versions of iPad Mini, one with and one without the Retina display. Coming to the 5th Gen iPad, Apple is said to have contacted LG Electronics to provide 2.5 to 3 million units of 9.7 inch display panel for iPad 5 during Q3, 2013. IPad 5 is said to come with same 2048×1536 resolution display like its predecessor and will be thinner and lighter. LG will also deliver 2 to 3 million of 7.9 inch display for iPad Mini 2, but it’s not clear whether it will be Retina display or not.

We will keep an eye out for more related news, have a look at our previous report on budget iPhone and iPhone 6 in the meantime. Stay tuned to our blog and follow us on Google+, Twitter and Facebook for more updates on phones, tablets and gadgets.

There are many indicators that Apple is ramping up its production of the iWatch. Firstly, Apple has filed for the trademark for the name “iWatch” in Japan and now according to a report in the Financial Times, it has gone on a hiring spree to ramp up the employees to accelerate production and solve unidentified engineering issues.

This will be Apple’s first new product since the demise of legendary Steve Jobs and CEO Tim Cook is well aware that Apple can’t afford to miss it like it did with Apple Maps, which was rectified later by offering public apology. This needs to be perfect.  Apple is looking beyond its current staff in Cupertino as this is a new field for Apple and they have come across some “hard engineering problems that they’ve not been able to solve,” as per the report in the Financial Times.

Apple iWatch Smartwatch will be a communicator wrist wearable device for iOS devices, and it will be able to receive emails, texts and notifications from your iPhone, iPad and iPod. Even though other companies such as Google, LG, Samsung, Intel, Dell and Microsoft are rumored to be building same devices, the audience for iWatch is much more. Sony and Pebble are one step ahead as they already have their products in the market. According to a survey done by ChangeWave in April, one is five people are interested in getting an iWatch. The market is big and thirsty and waiting for the Apple once again to take it to the mainstream.

PC Magazine’s Sascha Segan commented on the issue:

Apple tends to enter new markets once there’s a significant tech-world interest in a new technology, but while there are still usability problems Apple could solve. Apple arrives after the first pioneers, but before a category has entrenched leaders. It makes a category mainstream not by increased functionality, but by better usability.

For those who are still skeptical, consider the recent hiring of Paul Deneve, formerly of fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, by Apple for working on “special projects.” There is no other new product that requires Apple to bring together design and fashion but the upcoming iWatch. It will take time to solve those engineering puzzles and the rumors put the expected launch in late 2014. We will keep you guys updated with more information as and when it comes.

Apple is expected to announce a fifth generation iPad with a 9.7 inch screen in September, and its iPad Mini is expected to be upgraded soon. According to a report in Digitimes quoting upstream suppliers, the production of the 9.7 inch iPad is almost finished, and there is unlikely to be any change in the specifications.

Apple iPad 3

Digitimes also added that in addition to a Retina display, the upcoming tablet is expected to bring a bigger viewing area because of a slim bezel. The battery longevity of the tablet is also expected to be improved. Regarding shipment estimates, the report added:

Although suppliers have not yet received a firm mass production schedule from Apple and are mainly shipping products for pilot production, the sources pointed out that pilot production is already able to satisfy demand for the initial launch. Therefore, the sources expect Apple to give its shipment estimates at the end of July or early August.

The report from Digitimes also said that Apple is considering an upgraded version of its iPad Mini with a 7.9 inch display. The Cupertino giant is considering the inclusion of a Retina display in the next generation iPad Mini, which if decided in favor of could possibly postpone its release until the end of the fourth quarter. Apple is also forcing its upstream supply partners to shrink the bezel for this upgraded iPad Mini to bring it closer to Smartphones in terms of thickness.

5th Gen iPad

As per a previous report by Digitimes, the new iPad is expected to come with a same 2048x1536p display except that it will be built on the glass substrate of 0.2 mm, compared with 0.25mm for 4th generation iPad. The touch panel will be GF2 (1 layer of glass and two of ITO) instead of G/G bonding in 4th Generation iPad. It is also expected to be 25-33% lighter than previous iPad and will also see a reduction in size. LG Display, Samsung Display and Sharp are the usual suspects for supplying displays which will feature one LED bar backlighting instead of two in 4th Gen iPad.
