Some Notable Features

The i9 is actually another successor of the Razr family of handsets. It can be called one of the most stylish Nextel phones in the market. Well, contrary to that many feel that the styling is somehow old fashioned.

It has sleek angular design. So fits nicely in a small space. Since, i9 is light weight you can carry it in hands quite comfortably.

The i9 has 262,000 color external supportive and vibrant 2.2 inches display. It has sharp graphics, colors and impressive resolution.

Like all other touch controls handsets the keys of i9 are slippery too but they give amazing feedback. It has a rocking music player with excellent sound quality, simple interface and comes with a number of themes and visualizations.

The 3.1 MP camera shoots pictures in seven different resolutions. It’s powered by an excellent 8X digital zoom. The camcorder records videos in three different resolutions. It offers an excellent editing option too. Unfortunately, the image quality is not up to expectation. Most images are blur and dark.

Unfortunately none of the online marketers have listed exact price of this handset yet. Don’t worry it will be available soon. However, the prices offered by BoostMobile for Motorola Stature i9 is $249.99, which seems to be much higher for the device.

Video Review

Overall, it’s an average handset with a mixed bag. It has some quality features but quite often user reviews don’t go in favor of it. Checkout the device right on the BoostMobile website.

My first impression of the Motorola Defy+, truthfully, was that it was quite small because I have become adjusted to larger phones of screen sizes 4 inches and above but after I got over the size thing, the second thing I realized is that the Defy+ really hasn’t changed much atheistically from whence it came. Both versions have the same size screen at 3.7 inches, the same style and the same weight, however when it comes to what is inside, the Defy+ comes leaps and bounds ahead from the original.

Motorola Defy+
Motorola Defy+

Motorola Defy+ Tech Specs

The Defy+ has a 1GHz processor that despite not being dual-core like many of the current crop of smartphones is rather snappy and it powers the Defy+ smoothly, quickly and mostly without lag; But that might be down to the software. More on that later.
The quadrant scores are acceptable at 1536 for a single-core 1GHz processor, beating a Nexus One with Android 2.2 but remember that quadrant scores are just a benchmark and do not accurately represent how a phone performs in day to day use.

The screen on the phone is one of the best I’ve seen on a non-high-end smartphone. The colours are really bright and vibrant, the blacks are deep and the resolution at 480 x 854 is perfect for the 3.7 inch screen on the Defy+ but in my hands, I do feel like it is to small but I think that is only because recently I have been playing around with 4.3 inch phones above. The screen is also very responsive thanks to the capacitive nature of the screen, however, towards the edges of the screen, it refuses to pick up the input from my fingers. I am unsure if this is by design because of the “tough phone” nature of the handset or if it is just another build quality issue.

In keeping with the tough phone mantra, the Defy+’s screen is made out of Corning’s Gorilla Glass technology that for those unfamiliar with it, make nicks, scratches and cracks a thing of the past. I really do believe that it is one of the best new developments in mobile phones for a long time and it gives me reassurance that I won’t scratch my phone to death.

In the review unit that we have been loaned for this review (many thanks to by the way), I have found that there are some quite startling build quality issues: most notably being that when you shake or press down on the back of the device, there is a rattling coming from inside that I have narrowed down to being the battery not fitting snugly. I am not sure if this is just a fault with our particular unit or if it is something more major to do with the model but I just thought that this issue needed to be pointed out.

Motorola Defy+
Motorola Defy+

The Motorola Defy+ is running the latest version of Android for smartphones, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with the latest version of Motorola’s Android skin named Motoblur over the top.

Having recently used the previous version of Motoblur on the Motorola Atrix, I can safely say that the gingerbread version of this skin is a much needed improvement on the rather slow previous version. I also feel that this new version is much more good looking as there is less intense reds coming over from the Droid line in the US and much easier to use.

When transferring between the homescreens (you can use up to 7) there is some minor lag but I have only found this when I moved quickly between the homescreens; Most of the time it is very smooth. The new version of Motoblur also brings a minor redesign to the homescreens mainly there being placeholders for 3 apps of your choosing plus the app drawer button rather than the phone icon, app drawer and contacts of past.

Motorola Defy+ Price in India

Motorola Defy+ has been priced at 17,900 INR in Indian markets. It is available to buy at major retail stores and online stores all over in India.

The Motorola Mobility has recently announced a budget Facebook Phone, Motorola Motokey  Social.  The Motorola Motokey Social is more like the low end Vodaphone 555 Blue than the HTC ChaCha or the Salsa. Like all the Facebook phones the Motokey Social has also got a small blue button that lets the user go to Facebook, everybody’s favorite social network.

Motorola Motokey Social

In looks the Motorola Motokey Social is quite similar to other Motorola QWERTY phones, especially the recent Charm. This Motorola Motokey Social without the popular Android Operating system is only going to be popular among the serious Facebook buffs.

No prizes for guessing that the pricing will be the main key for the phone’s success or failure for an instance. But from the very outset this Motorola Motokey Social looks a good proposition in the making.

Motorola Motokey Social Tech Specs

The Motorola Motokey Social has a 2.4” TFT touch screen with a resolution of 320×240. This Facebook phone has a 28 days stand by time and a talk time of 8 hours.

The Motorola Motokey Social has a 64 MB RAM and a 50 MB internal storage but the memory can be expanded to 32 GB via microSD Card. The phone has a 3MP camera with fixed focus.

Motorola Motokey Social

The other features of Motorola Motokey Social include a 3 MM headphone jack. Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, a microUSB slot, and a 910 mAh battery. Motorola Motokey Social supports playback MP4and H.263 video formats and MP3, of course.

The Motorola Motokey Social should start shipping from December, for now the company has not disclosed the price.

No matter the phone is a hit or a flop, the Facebook geeks would love it and admire it, that is for sure; and the number of Facebook fans is huge- that goes without saying.

Apple, in its revamped version of original iPad, made many improvements while providing it tag of next version of iPad, under the name iPad 2. But now seeing many companies have launched their own tablet products, will these improvements prove enough? Find it out yourself when we compare iPad 2 with recently launched product by Motorola, Xoom.

ipad 2 vs xoom

Xoom, an Android based tablet by Motorola, first made its  public appearance in early January 2011. It became the first ever tablet to be sold with Android 3.0 OS. Afterwards, Motorola sequentially rolled out upgraded versions of Xoom, which provided facilities of 3G and Wi-Fi. Now the current buzz in market says Xoom 2 is on its way to make public appearance.

Both the tablets in discussion have been designed with skills but Motorola Xoom feels somehow bulkier than Apple iPad 2. Apple iPad 2 also has very sleek design as compared to its competitor Xoom and its sleek design is what makes it famous, beautiful and helps it to stand apart. So in design-test, its one for Apple vs. nil for Motorola. Let’s check them on technical criteria now.

Once again, as we at ‘TheGeeksClub’ ( do with almost all the comparisons, we have tabulated the results of the head-to-head comparison between Apple iPad 2 and Motorola Xoom.

  Apple iPad 2 Motorola Xoom
OS iOS 4.3 Android 3.0 (Honeycomb)
Display 9.7-inchLED-backlit IPS LCD with 1024x768px resolution 10.1-inch with 1280x800px resolution
Processor 1GHz dual-coreApple A5 1GHz dual-coreNVIDIA Tegra 2
Memory 512 Mb RAM 1GB RAM
Rear Camera/Front Camera 720p/VGA 5 megapixel AF with dual-LED flash, 720 / 30p video/2MP
Storage 16GB / 32GB / 64GB 32GB
Price $499 (16GB)$599 (32GB)$699 (64GB) $599 (Wi-Fi-only)$799(Wi-Fi and 3G, can be upgraded to 4G)

While we can see, hardware wise Motorola Xoom is outshining the iPad 2, when software and user interface testing was done, Apple iPad 2 seen exceeding our expectations. Motorola Xoom still lacks some great feature which iPad series has long back incorporated plus Xoom controls are a little complex to understand.

When we tried playing various games on both the devices, again iPad 2 managed to stay at top of the chart providing faster performance despite its smaller RAM. With Android app. market is booming, it still lacks backing of strong software like iTunes for Apple products. Thus we can surely say that in hardware section Motorola has managed to outplay Apple’s iPad 2 but in UI and applications section, it still needs go a long way.

Many people purchase products based on brand-value, if you are one of them, you might want to go for Apple’s iPad 2. If you want to try something different this time and do not want to opt for Apple, Motorola Xoom will prove a good candidate for your needs.

Ever heard of the Motorola Defy Plus? If not then you should. NOW. Launched in September 2011, the Motorola Defy Plus is a mobile device considered tailor-made for Indian conditions and you’ll second me after going through its sturdy features.

Sporting a 3.7 inch touchscreen (480 x 854), the Motorola Defy Plus comes with Gorilla Glass which makes its screen scratch-resistent which means there wont be any reaction if your action means scratching the surface of this phone with any sharp object. It has also got Accelerometer sensors for UI auto-rotate as well as proximity sensors for auto turn-off. Pretty neat. Add to that its uber-convincing abilities of being water-resistant and dust proof and this device is the perfect companion in rainy days, near beaches and on adventurous trails. As I had said earlier: Made-for-Indian conditions.

This Motorola mobile device runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is powered by a 1GHz processor supported by 512MB RAM. A 5MP camera beautifies it with improved capabilities like auto-focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, Image stabilization, effects and scene selection and more. Awesome!

And with all these features, it doesn’t lack any of the smartphone features and proves to be one bang on with internet-accesibility options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G or even a micro USB. The Li-PO 1700 mAH Battery gives the user a talk time of up to 7 long hours. Navigation woes can be discarded for the Motorola Defy Plus comes with GPS along with Google Maps 5.0. Its IP67 standard certification ensures it being resistance to dust, scratch, and water (for up to 1 m for 30 mins). It also comes preloaded with CardioTrainer app, Document Reader, Adobe Flash 10 enabled Web browser and a digital compass.

Priced at INR 14,500, Motorola Defy Plus is the smart phone to look out for.
