Altec Lansing VS2621 Speakers Review

Choosing a good 2.1 speaker s from 2.1 crowd can be very difficult with numerous brands available. But Altec Lansing VS2621 stands out of the crowd. They are stylish, budget speakers which are ruling the market for some time now. So, we are going to take them for a ride and listen them sing.

The speakers can work with any gadget possessing 3.5mm stereo-in port. The speaker has a stylish design and the trapezoidal satellite really looks cool. Each satellite speaker has a single 2 inch full range drive that pushes out 7.5 watts of power. The subwoofer pumps out 28 watts of power which is just enough for office or small size room. The speaker has Sound Pressure Level of 93dB and the frequency response is between 45Hz-18 KHz which means that speakers won’t give earth shaking experience. Signal to Noise ratio is rated at average >65dB.

Build quality of the speakers is average. Satellite speakers are made up of glossy plastic with front having metallic color plastic grill. The satellites face slightly upwards when placed on some flat surface which helps to project sound towards listener. The subwoofer has wooden enclosure giving them superior and solid look over plastic satellite speakers. The air-port is located conveniently at the front which is enough to keep the speakers cool. The wires are of average quality but the build quality of the speakers is satisfactory being an entry level product.

The right satellite speaker has controls for volume and tone, an LED indicator and AUX-in port to connect external audio sources to the speaker. The two satellites are connected by about a 5m long cable and right satellite protrude 2 more cables, one to the subwoofer and the other to the audio source (3.5mm). Talking of the connectivity, the speakers offer two audio inputs but no headphones out. There is no remote control for the speakers.  The power button is located at the back of the speaker which you may find a bit inconvenient and there is also no bass level control button on the system.

If you really want a decent sound quality and stylish design for good bang of bucks, then considering the speakers in not a bad choice.
