The AOC Touch Monitor e2239fwt: Tech specs, pricing, impressions

Want a bigger and more responsive laptop screen but still do not want to change your laptop? Embrace this new touch monitor from AOC, called as Touch Monitor e2239fwt which gives you a splendid opportunity to have a 21.5″ WLED screen with touch ability without the need to change your laptop. The AOC touch monitor can be used as an alternative screen by connecting it to your laptop/notebook and enjoying the same on a bigger screen.

According to AOC, “The multi-touch feature of the new Touch Monitor is ideal for software applications that benefit from control via simple hand gestures, like gaming, education, entertainment and photo management.” The AOC Touch Monitor e2239fwt is a two-legged monitor instead of the usual one leg design which allows the laptop to be slid between the legs and when open, the smaller laptop screen gets hidden behind the monitor.

Due to this two-legged design, it cannot be adjusted height-wise and the only option to increase its height is to stack it under a pile of books or bricks. However, it is adjustable vertically on an angle from 3 to 12 degrees. The monitor offers low power consumption at less than 0.1W when in standby and less than 25W in normal use. It also provides a timer so the user can schedule when the display will turn off.

The good thing is that multiple touch monitors can be chained together, i.e. one notebok may add up to six additional screens without the need for additional hardware or a new VGA card. The monitor comes with a 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 5ms response time. Connectors include two side-mounted HDMI ports, a D-Sub connector, two USB ports and audio in.

Launched on the 23rd of June 2011, this Touch Monitor supporting full HD 1920×1080 resolution is now available in the UK for around £190.
