As reported earlier, Apple is planning a Media Event next week (23rd of October) for the launch of iPad Mini. Since this report comes from a trusted source (Wall Street Journal) no doubt, it will happen!
Alongside the iPad Mini, it is reported that Apple will be also announcing an update to the Macs. According to a consistently reliable source of 9to5Mac at a high-profile U.S. retailer, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will debut at the event.
Lying in the same family of Retina Display, it will be following the same hardware profile which the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display has. This will bring a slim and light 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
This 13-inch Retina version is expected to come with same CPU, new storage options and a better GPU. It looks like Apple will ditch the Intel HD Graphics in the Retina version like they did in the 15-inch Retina model.
The 13-inch model will be sold in two configurations which will differ in processor and storage. There is no word on the pricing yet, but it is reported that the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will be priced more than the 13-inch Non Retina MacBook Pro.
The 13-inch Non-Retina MacBook Pro starts form $1,199 with higher end version for $1,499. I expect the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display to start somewhere near to $1,499.
Unlike the iDevices, this 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will go for the sale soon after the introduction. Currently 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display is codenamed as D2, that means the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will be codenamed as D1.
The 13-inch Retina version will be a huge hit. 15-inch Retina MacBook is highly priced so many couldn’t afford getting it. 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display seems to be the best alternative.
