Blackberry’s market share has dropped down quite a lot in the past year. With a line of high profile phones, it failed to gain the attention of the audience. Within all this RIM came with another one, The Blackberry Bold Touch 9900. A lot of faith has been show by RIM on 9900 and they are expecting this one to break their shackles of failure. Whether this device will rule or fail? I grabbed my piece of Bold Touch 9900 and brought it in my testing room.

Blackberry has always been serious in terms of looks. Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 is the slimmest of the entire Blackberry’s I played with so far (Just 10.5mm thick). The chromium finish on the edges of the phone makes attractive. The Phone is quite bigger when compared to other “Bold Phones” of Blackberry. The keys on the keypad are quite big.

The display and the keys occupy same amount of space of the front part. The power button is present on the top panel of the phone. On the right panel you will find the volume rocker and the camera key. On the left you a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB Port is present. There was nothing to protect the ports from dust. On the back panel camera is present. A small LED flash resides just beside the camera.
Overall, the phone has got premier looks which will suite the office guys as well as the regular buddies. The Phone comes in two different colors i.e. Black and White. So you got something to choose over here.

Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 Performance:
After reading the specs of Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 I was quite worried whether this phone will be able to perform or not. But the 9900 came out with a bang, keeping all my negative thoughts at one corner. Browsing the phone was fun and multitasking wasn’t the problem at all. The 2.8 inch display was bright and good. The response which I got from the touch of the phone was amazing. Whether it was browsing the files or hanging out with friends on the social network, it didn’t fail.

The QWERTY keypad of the phone was really awesome. It was the best I’ve ever used in any QWERTY phone. I didn’t face any sort of problem while typing a document on the phone. The phone grips very nicely in the hands and it won’t slip out of your hands easily; you will require a special skill to do that. The Optical track pad doesn’t disappoint either. I didn’t face any sort of lag or any itchiness while going browsing the phone using the track pad.
Coming to the sound quality, Bold Touch 9900 is a decent performer. The Call clarity was excellent. I didn’t face any kind of interruption on the Voice Call even when I was in the Low-Network Zone. Playing Music isn’t loud on the phone, though the clarity is good and enough for to reach the ear buds of the owner.

The 5 MP primary camera of the phone comes with an LED flash and is good for casual photography. The camera comes with features like Geo-Tagging and Face Detection. This also allows you to record HD videos at a decent rate. Lack of secondary camera was a disgrace for such a good phone. This one isn’t a video-call friendly one.
The 1.2 GHz processor and 768 MB of RAM made the performance of the phone absolutely smooth. Multi-tasking wasn’t a thing to worry about. I ran a few apps in the background and started browsing over the internet. There were no signs of breaks in the speed of the phone. Using apps was a delight. As usual, I played Angry Birds on the device and I was delighted. After all Angry Birds is such an awesome game and Bold Touch 9900 didn’t disappoint me either.

The Phone has got a Li-ion battery of 1230 mAh which didn’t sound great and this time the 9900 didn’t have any surprises left for me. The Battery lost all its charge after 24 hours, with usage of apps, browsing for some hours, attending a few calls and playing music for a while. With 1.2 GHz processor, some more battery power was required.
Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 Price and Conclusion:
The Price of the Phone is Rs.33, 360 which is a big ask. I searched for it in the local stores but the lowest price I got was Rs.32, 500. There are too many good phones available in the market within this price bracket. But if you want a powerful QWERTY Phone which can resist the load of multitasking with ease, then the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 is definitely the choice.
