BREAKING: Steve Jobs Resigns as CEO of Apple

August the month of surprises, Google bought the Motorola Mobility and HP abandoned the PC industry, and now Steve Jobs resigns. The news shocked everyone and caused Apple shares fall by about $ 20 dollars at once. We all knew that Steve would resign from the company one days, but not so fast, especially with the company is on its height success.

Steve Jobs was credited for saving Apple from heavy losses many times, he previously said that he will leave the company on the day he feels that he is unable to carry out his duties to the fullest, and this day has come already. But he hasnt left the company, he is now the Chairman of the Board of Apple. This means that he will continue working at Apple, but in lighter way than the previous, and perhaps the reason is his health problems that he faced recently .

Apple has announced that Tim Cook, Apple’s COO, will become CEO of the company. Cook was previously responsible for all of the company’s worldwide sales and operations, including end-to-end management of Apple’s supply chain, sales activities, and service and support in all markets and countries.  Cook is no stranger to this post, he has already been the CEO of Apple in an informal way in 2009 , when he revealed the iPod Shuffle.

Tim  also headed Apple’s Macintosh division and played a key role in the continued development of strategic reseller and supplier relationships, ensuring flexibility in response to an increasingly demanding marketplace.

The Letter from Steve Jobs himself:

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
