Coby to Introduce Android 4.0 Powered Internet Tablets in First Quarter of 2012

Inspired by some of its current best-selling Internet tablets, Coby Electronics, the manufacturer and distributor of a variety of home and portable electronics, is all set to launch its new, highly anticipated and premiere range of feature packed Coby Android 4.0-powered Internet tablets.


Coby has promised to debut 5 of its highly noticeable introductory models, providing its broad base of consumers a wide variety of unique styles and sizes to choose from.

The brand-new Coby Android 4.0 OS tablet collection will be unveiled at the International Consumer Electronics Show, in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 10-13, 2012.

The exciting Coby Android 4.0 powered Internet Tablets assortment include,

  • 7″ MID7042
  • 8″ MID8042 (4:3 aspect ratio)
  • 9″ MID9042
  • 9.7″ MID9742 (4:3 aspect ratio)
  • 10″ MID1042

All the above variants will get same specifications, not very different from each other.  Some specifications include,

  • 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU
  • I GB of RAM
  • Expandable memory up to 32 GB
  • Wi-Fi and HDMI 1080 output

The tablets are equipped with capacitive multi-touch screens and have been designed to offer lightning-fast access to thousands of apps and wireless web browsing instantly.

There is no word on the pricing yet; however, the Android powered units from Coby are expected to hit the market in first quarter of 2012 with reasonable/affordable prices.

The Coby Android 4.0 powered Internet tablets have not been designed to compete other high-end Android tablets but for the users, just looking to play around with Ice Cream Sandwich, not desiring to cash out their money for extra added features.
