Overview

Eklavvya is an assessment platform for institutions and businesses that need to run remote exams across varied question formats. It is strongest when proctoring, integrations, and results analysis matter alongside exam delivery; organizations that require self-hosting should look elsewhere.

The service combines exam authoring, candidate workflows, monitoring, and analysis in a managed SaaS product. Its browser-based delivery and broad device support for proctoring make it relevant to distributed assessments, while the free plan’s 25-exam allowance is a modest starting point rather than a large-scale free tier.

Key features

Question design and exam controls

Question banks can mix image-based, audio-based, objective, and subjective questions. Administrators can set passing marks, organize questions by topic, apply negative marking, and choose difficulty levels. This gives teams useful control over exam structure and scoring without limiting them to conventional multiple-choice tests.

Proctoring and audit logs

Eklavvya provides remote proctoring to authenticate and authorize candidates and control examinations. Image capture, video proctoring, AI proctoring, and screen sharing are supported on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. Administrators can also review activity by candidates and administrators through audit logs. These capabilities suit organizations that need oversight during remote exams, though the exams themselves are delivered through a browser.

Results and integrations

Result processing includes rankings, individual and batch analysis of question attempts, and score and group-performance analysis. Integrations with ERP, LMS, CRM, and custom applications can use options such as SSO and REST APIs. The documented APIs span candidate and exam workflows, scheduling, results, face verification, proctoring image analysis, and code grading, making the product a stronger fit for organizations connecting assessments to existing systems than for teams seeking a standalone quiz tool.

Eklavvya states that it is CERT-IN certified for software security and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified for information security management. Those certifications may matter to organizations evaluating security practices, but they do not change the product’s deployment constraint: it is delivered as managed SaaS and cannot be hosted on a customer’s own server.

Pricing

Eklavvya uses a freemium model. The Free plan is free and includes 25 exams and 1 GB of storage. Usage is counted in exam credits based on candidate exam instances, so the allowance can be consumed by individual candidate attempts rather than only by the number of exam designs. Free-plan technical support is by email only.

Standard has custom pricing and includes 500 exams with 5 GB of storage. Professional also has custom pricing, with 500 exams and 10 GB of storage. Enterprise has custom pricing and includes 20 GB of storage; it lists an account manager for technical support. The published plan information gives no exam quota for Enterprise, so organizations comparing its capacity should confirm the allowance before choosing it.

The free tier is useful for a small pilot, but its candidate-instance credit basis and 25-exam limit make it a poor assumption for sustained high-volume use. Standard and Professional retain the same stated exam count while increasing storage, so the practical distinction between them is storage headroom rather than a larger exam allowance.

Platforms

Eklavvya is available across web, Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, with API access. Exams are browser-delivered, while supported devices can be used for image capture, video, AI proctoring, and screen-sharing workflows. The managed-SaaS-only model rules it out for organizations that require deployment on their own servers.

Who it's for

Eklavvya is best suited to institutions and enterprises conducting remote assessments that need multiple question types, exam controls, proctoring, and integrations with existing business or learning systems. Its API coverage and result analysis are especially relevant when assessments are part of a broader operational workflow. It is a weaker fit for organizations that need self-hosting or a free allowance large enough for ongoing, high-volume candidate testing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad assessment formats and controls: image, audio, objective, and subjective questions can be combined with topic structures, passing marks, negative marking, and difficulty levels.
Remote oversight: multiple proctoring modes and audit logs cover candidate monitoring and activity review across supported desktop and mobile devices.
Integration depth: SSO, REST APIs, and workflows spanning scheduling, results, face verification, and code grading can connect assessments to other systems.

Cons

Small free allowance: 25 exams, counted by candidate exam instances, can be restrictive for larger cohorts or recurring assessments.
No customer-hosted deployment: the managed SaaS model is unsuitable where an organization requires its own server environment.
Custom pricing on paid tiers: Standard, Professional, and Enterprise do not provide a published price for straightforward budget comparison.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Online Exam Software or Lockdown Browser Software. Choose TAO if self-hosting matters: it supports self-hosted deployment and offers a free forever Starter plan with one author seat, 3,000 AI credits per month, and 50 learner test attempts per month. ThinkExam is another freemium option; its Standard plan is 3125.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes 100 users and unlimited quizzes.

SpeedExam may suit teams comparing a free exam tool with an explicitly stated monthly attempt allowance: its FREE plan includes 25 exam attempts per month, 2,000 questions, and 100 MB storage. ClassMarker is an alternative with a Professional 2 plan offering up to 1,000 credits per month and AI exam proctoring. Numbas is a free, open-source option with self-hosted support. TCExam offers a free GNU AGPL-3.0-or-later license and a separate commercial license. Examination Online is a paid alternative with a Training plan at 10.00 USD per month, a minimum purchase of 20 credits per month, and 5 GB of disk space. Synap is a paid option with a Standard plan at 1200.00 GBP per year, including the platform and the first 500 credits for unproctored exams.

Verdict

Choose Eklavvya if your institution or business needs remote assessments with configurable exams, proctoring, detailed results, and connections to existing systems. Its principal advantages are breadth across the exam workflow and API coverage; its main drawbacks are the small free allowance, custom-priced paid tiers, and lack of self-hosting. If local deployment is mandatory or predictable published pricing is a priority, compare alternatives before committing.
