Overview

Adobe Stock’s library contains more than 900 million assets across images, video, audio, templates, and other categories. Subscriptions cover standard images, templates, 3D assets, and music; most also include HD video. That range suits projects that draw on several kinds of media, though buyers still need to check that a particular plan and license fit the intended use.

AI Studio lets users change colors and moods, adjust image ratios, replace backgrounds, animate still images, and edit through text prompts before licensing and downloading. This makes it possible to shape a candidate asset before committing to it. Adobe Stock can be used independently; Creative Cloud integration is especially useful to Photoshop users, who can preview, edit, and license assets within their workflow.

Key features

Pre-license editing

AI Studio’s editing tools help adapt stock images and videos to a project before purchase. Changing an aspect ratio or background may make an asset more suitable for a layout, while animation can turn a still into motion content. The value is in tailoring stock before licensing, not in replacing a broader creative production workflow.

Commercial licensing

Plans include commercial-use licensing, but the Standard License generally limits print runs to 500,000 and excludes use in items for resale. Projects that exceed the print limit or put an asset on merchandise or other resale items need an Extended License. That distinction matters for publishers and businesses producing physical goods: a subscription alone does not settle whether a use is covered.

Business administration

Team subscriptions pool licenses across team members and are designed for small to midsize businesses. Enterprise subscriptions add configurable access, pooled licenses, and advanced administration and deployment for midsize to large organizations. Business buyers can request a consultation about plans. Adobe says its products use security processes and controls developed through its Secure Product Lifecycle, and that it complies with industry standards and regulations and undergoes independent audits.

Pricing

Adobe Stock is paid, offers a 7-day trial, and has no free plan. The subscription options include:

10 standard assets: custom pricing; 10 standard assets, 1 video, and 120 rollover credits.
25 standard assets: custom pricing; 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits.
40 standard assets: custom pricing; 40 standard assets, 6 videos, and 480 rollover credits.
750 standard assets: custom pricing; 750 standard assets and 25 videos.
3 standard assets: custom pricing; 3 standard assets and 36 rollover credits.
25 standard assets month-to-month: custom pricing; 25 standard assets, 3 videos, and 300 rollover credits.

The asset and video quotas distinguish these options, while rollover credits offer a buffer on plans that include them. Buyers should match the allowance to expected usage rather than assume the largest quota is necessary. Separate credit packs have an expiry: unused credits expire 12 months after purchase outside Japan, or after 6 months for residents of Japan. Team and enterprise plans serve organizations needing pooled licensing or more administration, rather than individual buyers; their pricing is custom.

Platforms

Adobe Stock is available on the web, Android, and iOS, and provides API access. The API may suit projects that need programmatic access, while the mobile apps and website provide other ways to use the service. Photoshop integration is an additional option for Creative Cloud users, not a requirement for using Adobe Stock.

Who it's for

Adobe Stock fits creatives and organizations sourcing multiple asset types, particularly those who want to adjust stock before licensing or work in Photoshop. Its team and enterprise plans address shared licensing and organizational administration. It is a weaker fit for buyers seeking a free library, or for anyone whose resale or print needs exceed Standard License limits without budgeting for an Extended License.

Pros and cons

Pro: More than 900 million assets span images, video, audio, templates, and other content, making the library useful for varied creative needs.
Pro: AI Studio can alter assets before licensing, helping users assess and adapt stock before committing.
Pro: Pooled licensing and configurable administration give teams and larger organizations options beyond individual subscriptions.
Con: There is no free plan, and the 7-day trial is brief for buyers who need more time to evaluate a recurring workflow.
Con: Standard License restrictions on resale and print runs above 500,000 mean some commercial projects require an Extended License.
Con: The asset quotas and custom pricing make it important for buyers to establish their expected usage and plan cost before choosing.

Alternatives

Choose Pexels if a free plan is more important than Adobe Stock’s paid subscriptions; it offers free photos and videos, with API access capped at 200 requests per hour and 20,000 per month. Vecteezy is another option for buyers who prefer a freemium service with image-only and unlimited-download plans. For a free library with full-resolution photo and video downloads after sign-up, consider Pixabay.

VectorStock offers a pay-per-image option with a single-vector purchase, Pro license, and no ongoing commitment. Bigstock is an alternative with paid image-per-day subscriptions. For rights-managed and editorial-use image options, consider IMAGO. Yay Images has freemium plans, including a one-seat option and a lifetime membership with five downloads per day. 123RF offers credit purchases with Standard and Extended licenses, as well as a team plan.

Verdict

Adobe Stock is a strong choice for creatives and businesses that need a broad, multi-format catalog and want to edit assets before licensing them. Its Photoshop integration and pooled-license options strengthen the case for Adobe-centered workflows and teams. Look elsewhere if a free plan is essential, or account for an Extended License when resale or print runs above 500,000 are part of the project.
