Overview

Airbrush is a photo and video editor with AI tools for retouching and image adjustments, available on mobile, desktop and web. It is best suited to people who want portrait editing across devices, mobile video tools or desktop batch editing. Its range is appealing, but the restricted free plan and credit-based paid options call for a close look at usage before subscribing.

Key features

AI retouching, skin smoothing, object removal, filters and background adjustments address common portrait and image-cleanup tasks. Airbrush Studio adds image enhancement, smart presets and batch editing, which is useful when processing multiple images on desktop; RAW support also suits photographers working with that format.

The Android and iOS apps support video editing alongside photo tools, making Airbrush a practical option for creators who want both in a mobile app. Credits can cover photos and videos, but video uses two credits per minute or part after the first minute under the one-time credit pack, so frequent video work can consume credits faster than photo editing.

Cloud sync is not available. Cloud editing uploads photos to Airbrush servers for processing and may receive EXIF data. By contrast, the Airbrush Studio Mac page says AI photo processing happens on-device and images are not uploaded without consent. These differences matter when choosing a workflow for sensitive photos. The privacy policy also says personal information in text inputs and generated outputs may be processed when using ChatGPT or similar integrated features.

Pricing

The free plan is free and includes a 512M upload limit, with limited access to Magic Image, Magic Video, Portrait, Export and some editing features. That is enough to explore the product, but the restricted access makes it a poor fit for regular editing. Airbrush advertises a 7-day free trial for downloads.

The Credits Pack costs 9.00 USD per month for 10 credits with one-year credit validity. A separate one-time option, Credits Pack (10 Credits), costs 9.00 USD per once: $9 for 10 credits, or $0.90 per credit. Those purchased credits work for photos and videos and remain valid for one year. Subscription credits are issued monthly and unused credits expire when the subscription term ends, so the one-time pack is better for occasional use when avoiding monthly credit expiry matters.

Web Plus Monthly costs 15.95 USD per month, billed $15.95 /month. It includes 80 credits per month, 10GB upload space, unlimited feature usage with credits and unlimited exports. Web Plus Annually costs 95.95 USD per year, billed $95.95$159.95 /year, with 80 credits per month, 10GB upload space, unlimited feature usage with credits and unlimited exports. The annual plan is presented as saving 40%, but its credits still renew monthly and unused subscription credits expire at the end of the term. Both Web Plus plans suit regular users who need more room and exports; the monthly plan avoids an annual commitment, while annual pricing is aimed at those willing to commit.

Platforms

Airbrush is available on Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Airbrush Studio supports Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 11 or later. Mobile video editing is a distinct advantage for users who want to edit clips on a phone, while the desktop Studio tools are better aligned with batch image work. The site links to an Airbrush Help Center and a Contact Us option for support.

Who it's for

Airbrush suits everyday users and content creators looking for AI portrait tools, as well as photographers and professionals who can use RAW support and desktop batch editing. It is less suitable for users who need cloud sync, want unrestricted editing without tracking credits, or prefer not to upload photos for cloud processing.

Pros and cons

Pros: AI retouching, object removal and background adjustment cover useful portrait and cleanup tasks.
Pros: Desktop batch editing, RAW support and mobile video editing give it reach across different creative workflows.
Pros: The one-time 10-credit pack remains valid for a year, which suits occasional editing better than expiring monthly subscription credits.
Cons: The free plan limits access to key features and caps uploads at 512M, restricting its usefulness as a regular editor.
Cons: Subscription credits expire at the end of the term, and video editing can use credits quickly.
Cons: No cloud sync means it is not a fit for people seeking a synced library, while cloud editing sends photos to Airbrush servers for processing.

Alternatives

For a wider set of options, browse AI Photo Editors or Photo Editing Software.

PhotoBoost may suit users who want an alternative that supports Linux as well as mobile, desktop and web platforms; its free plan provides two introductory credits and up to 3 MP cloud output. Aluo is a web-only option with five one-time free credits and paid plans that specify monthly credit allowances. Autoenhance.ai offers a free preview with watermarked results and paid downloads, which may suit users who want to preview its output before paying.

Clipdrop is another freemium option, available on Android, iOS, web and API, with daily limits on several free tools. Photo Editor- offers a free, ad-supported all-in-one editor with limited AI tools on Android, iOS and macOS. Photoleap is a freemium option for Android, iOS and web, with some features requiring a subscription. YouCam Perfect focuses on mobile and offers free tools and templates, with premium access removing usage limits and unlocking advanced AI features. LightX AI Cartoon Generator offers six daily free AI credits and 512px export in its free Starter plan, alongside mobile, web and API access.

Verdict

Choose Airbrush if you want AI-assisted portrait editing with desktop batch tools or mobile video editing in the same product. Its broad platform support and one-year validity on one-time credits are meaningful advantages, but credit expiry on subscriptions, a limited free tier and the lack of cloud sync make it a weaker choice for heavy users who need predictable unrestricted access or a synced workflow.
