Overview

Reviva concentrates on three jobs rather than trying to be a complete photo editor: repairing physical damage, adding color to grayscale images, and improving unclear faces. That narrow purpose is useful when working through an old family archive, but less suitable if you also need broad retouching or design tools.

Key features

Restore addresses tears, creases, water stains, missing corners, and fading. It is the most appropriate mode for scanned prints with obvious age damage. Colorize applies natural, period-appropriate color to black-and-white photographs, including skin tones, skies, and fabric, so it is aimed at historical images rather than modern color correction. Enhance focuses on facial detail in blurry, soft, or low-resolution photos; it is a targeted way to clarify people, not a promise of comprehensive sharpening across every object.

The maker says processing normally finishes in well under a minute. Completed images can be downloaded in full resolution, printed, or shared. Free users receive full-resolution files without watermarks, which makes the trial allowance genuinely useful for producing keepsakes instead of merely inspecting previews.

Privacy controls are relevant for personal photographs. Reviva says uploaded originals are deleted from its processing pipeline after a successful restoration, while restored results remain in account history until you delete them. It says data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with access to restorations restricted to your account through signed, short-lived links. Photos are processed by third-party AI providers; Reviva says it does not train its own models on them or allow providers to use them for training beyond operating the service. Its named service providers include Amazon Web Services, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, OpenPanel, and those AI providers. Support is available by email at support@solusmakers.com.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and includes three free restorations, full-resolution downloads, and no watermarks. It fits someone repairing a few treasured photographs or evaluating the modes before paying, but the three-restoration cap rules out a large archive.

Reviva Pro Yearly costs 59.99 USD per year, billed Yearly. It adds unlimited restorations and full restored history, making it the sensible choice for sustained scanning and repair work. There is no lower paid tier described, so lighter users must either stay within the free allowance or pay for a full year. The free trial can demonstrate the workflow, while App Store subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

Platforms

Reviva runs on iOS and macOS. The App Store requires iOS 15.1 or later; Mac support requires macOS 12.0 or later on an Apple M1 chip or later. That makes it a poor fit for older Macs, Windows PCs, Android phones, or Linux systems.

Who it's for

Choose Reviva if you have family albums, scanned snapshots, or vintage photographs needing a specific repair, color treatment, or facial cleanup, and you want downloadable files suitable for printing. The free plan is particularly practical for a small set of images. Look elsewhere if you need cross-platform access, extensive editing controls, or enough included processing for a sizeable collection without an annual commitment.

Pros and cons

Pros: Three clearly separated modes cover common damage, grayscale colorization, and blurry faces.
Pros: Full-resolution, watermark-free downloads are included in the free plan, so trial results remain usable.
Pros: Processing is intended to finish in well under a minute, and results can be printed or shared.
Pros: Stated deletion, encryption, and account-link protections address the sensitivity of family photos.
Cons: Only three free restorations are included, which is limiting for an archive.
Cons: Unlimited use requires a 59.99 USD yearly subscription, with automatic renewal unless canceled on time.
Cons: Apple-only compatibility excludes Android, Windows, and older Intel Macs.

Alternatives

Photo Restoration Software is the broader list to consult when you want to compare restoration products by category.

AIPhotor is the better direction for Android or web access, and its free account provides five credits rather than Reviva's three restorations; a 100-credit monthly plan costs 3.99 USD per month.

HitPaw FotorPea suits readers who need a wider multi-platform AI photo toolkit and can accept a paid model, with a 27.99 USD monthly license listed.

The other HitPaw FotorPea listing is another paid, cross-platform option with a 21.99 USD monthly plan, 100 free credits, and nine AI enhancement models.

ImageColorizer is preferable for broader platform coverage and a larger free allowance: its free plan gives 50 credits per month, single processing, all AI features, and ads.

AKVIS Retoucher AI is the alternative for desktop users seeking a paid plugin or standalone application on macOS, Windows, or Linux.

Hotpot AI Photo Restorer fits web, API, or self-hosted workflows; its free tier allows two images daily.

Memento AI is another Apple-only choice, with a free standard restoration option and a 36.99 USD annual Pro plan that adds HD export.

RenewShot is an iOS alternative whose free tier offers two processing previews per month but does not allow saving or sharing until Pro.

Verdict

Reviva is a good choice for Apple users restoring a modest set of meaningful photographs: its dedicated modes, fast stated processing, and genuinely usable free downloads make the first attempts low-risk. Choose another service if you need Android or desktop compatibility beyond Apple, more generous free quotas, or a monthly payment option instead of a 59.99 USD annual renewal.
