Overview

Alice organizes work around litigation case files. It analyzes documents, links facts to legal research, helps structure arguments, and assembles drafts. That makes it a focused option for teams handling these stages together, rather than a general legal practice platform. Buyers who need broader practice-management capabilities should look elsewhere.

Key features

Case analysis and legal research

Automatic analysis detects facts, issues, and connections across case documents, while Ask Alice lets users query a case file in natural language. Alice Research connects case facts to relevant law and doctrine across public and private libraries, returning answers with citations. This can help lawyers move from the record toward supporting authority; the citations provide a basis for review, not a substitute for it.

Argument building and drafting

The argument builder turns facts and research into structured arguments, rebuttals, and rejoinders with citations for lawyer review. Alice Draft assembles litigation documents from facts, arguments, positions, and citations, with further refinement in Microsoft Word. Keeping these steps in one matter workflow is useful for litigation teams, though the tools still support lawyer review rather than removing it.

Integrations, security, and support

Alice includes a Microsoft Word add-in; SharePoint integration is reserved for Advanced. Alice says customer data is isolated by organization, encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and in Azure databases, and that document texts are stored in OpenAI vector stores. It says personal data is processed solely within the EU, customer data is not used to train AI models, and the service complies with GDPR. Alice has started an ISO 27001 process and says it is in the final stage of becoming accredited, so it should not be treated as already accredited.

Advanced adds dedicated support and onboarding. Alice says individual implementation takes under an hour and team deployment can happen the same day. Those provisions may matter to firms rolling out the service across a larger group; Core buyers do not get the same dedicated support and onboarding package.

Pricing

Alice has no free plan and offers a 14-day trial. Core costs €85 per user per month, with monthly or yearly billing; yearly billing is shown with a 15% discount. It includes unlimited cases, automatic case analysis, research, the argument builder, and document generation. The per-user charge means costs rise with each seat, but unlimited cases avoids a case-count cap on this plan.

Advanced has custom pricing and is designed for larger teams of six or more. It includes everything in Core, plus dedicated support and onboarding, flexible user management, SharePoint integration, and tailored setup. The price must be assessed with the team’s size and rollout needs in mind. Alice says plans can be changed at any time, with no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.

Platforms

Alice is web-based, with Linux, macOS, and Windows also listed as supported platforms. The Microsoft Word add-in extends its drafting workflow into Word. SharePoint integration is limited to Advanced.

Who it's for

Core is positioned for small and medium teams that want litigation analysis, research, argument development, and drafting in one service. Advanced is aimed at larger teams and firmwide rollouts that need flexible user management, SharePoint, and dedicated onboarding. Alice is a weaker fit for buyers seeking a free tier, a broader legal platform, or a standalone writing assistant rather than a litigation workflow.

Pros and cons

Pro: Case analysis, cited legal research, argument building, and document generation are connected around matter work, reducing the need to treat each stage as a separate workflow.
Pro: The Core plan has unlimited cases and includes the main litigation tools, making its scope clear for smaller teams.
Pro: EU-only personal-data processing, GDPR compliance, and a commitment not to train AI models on customer data address important privacy concerns for legal teams.
Con: Core is €85 per user per month and there is no free plan, which may be difficult to justify for occasional users or small budgets.
Con: Advanced uses custom pricing, so larger teams must obtain pricing before judging the total cost.
Con: ISO 27001 accreditation is still in progress, and document texts are stored in OpenAI vector stores—points security teams may need to assess before adoption.

Alternatives

Legal AI Software is a useful starting point for comparing products across the category. Choose Clearbrief if a free plan for law students or its freemium model is a better fit than Alice’s paid, matter-focused workflow. Zuva is worth considering for a freemium option with API and self-hosted platforms, rather than Alice’s litigation workspace. Robin AI is another paid option with a free plan. LegitQuest offers a freemium alternative, including a yearly Plus plan for SMEs. For writing-focused needs, BriefCatch has an Individual plan at $60.00 USD per year, billed annually, with up to one seat and 650 credits. CaseMine offers a freemium alternative and an Essential plan for managing up to five cases. Judicio is a paid alternative with a Professional plan that includes one seat and 5,000 credits per month. Plexus is a paid modular platform with pricing available on request that scales with legal team size.

Verdict

Alice is a strong fit for litigation teams that want case analysis, legal research, arguments, and drafting tied together around their matters. Core includes unlimited cases and the central workflow, but its €85 per-user monthly price rules out a free starting point, while larger teams face custom Advanced pricing. Choose Alice when that connected litigation focus is the priority; look elsewhere if you need a free tier or a broader legal platform.
