Overview

AlignMint is a nonprofit operations platform that brings fund accounting, donor management, fundraising, volunteers, events, payments, and reporting together. It best suits teams that want finance and program work connected; the main caveats are that fund accounting begins on a paid plan and events cannot collect tax.

Key features

Finance teams can track restricted and unrestricted funds by purpose, manage grants, compare budgets with actuals, track programs, and keep an audit trail. Approvals and reporting from the same ledger can help connect financial controls with day-to-day reporting, rather than leaving those tasks in separate tools.

Donor records combine gifts, receipts, recurring gifts, pledges, notes, and follow-up. Volunteer management covers profiles, signups, schedules, service hours, background checks, and event assignments. Events support registration, ticketing, check-in, attendance, and revenue reporting, but the lack of event tax collection may rule AlignMint out for organizations that need that capability.

Minty, the AI assistant, answers plain-English questions using live nonprofit data, links to reports, and can take selected actions after confirmation. Each user is capped at 50 messages per day across the full-page assistant and header dropdown; monthly Minties allowances also vary by plan. Google Meet is supported through calendar integration, and the pricing comparison lists QuickBooks and external import.

AlignMint says organization data is isolated, encrypted in transit and at rest, regularly backed up with redundant storage, and exportable by the customer. It says it does not sell donor data. Plans include access to support resources, with live webinars and chat available; AlignMint also offers weekly live walkthroughs.

Pricing

AlignMint has a free tier and paid plans, with no contracts or per-seat fees. Card processing costs 2.7% plus $0.30 per card transaction, so organizations should factor those charges into fundraising costs.

Plan	Price and fit	Included capacity
Free	Free for nonprofits with up to $100K in annual donations.	1 user, 10 GB storage, and 0 Minties per month. Fund accounting is not included.
Plus	$142.00 USD per month, billed $1,704 billed annually. Best fit for organizations up to $250K in annual donations; includes a 30-day free trial.	10 users, 25 GB storage, 2,500 Minties per month, fund accounting, and Plaid bank feeds.
Pro	$499.00 USD per month, billed $5,988 billed annually. Best fit for established teams managing more complex finance and operations, up to $2.5M in annual donations.	25 users, 100 GB storage, and 10,000 Minties per month.
Enterprise	Custom pricing, with personalized pricing and setup for large, multi-entity, or specialized organizations.	Unlimited users, storage, organizations, and funds, plus 25,000+ Minties per month and consolidated reporting.

The free plan is a useful entry point for eligible smaller nonprofits, but its one-user cap, 10 GB storage, and lack of fund accounting constrain it as a shared operational system. Plus is the first tier with fund accounting and bank feeds, and raises team capacity to 10; Pro is aimed at larger teams that need more room for users, storage, and monthly Minties. Enterprise makes sense when multiple entities or funds need consolidated reporting. No credit card is required to start the free offering.

Platforms

AlignMint is available on the web.

Who it's for

AlignMint is aimed at nonprofit finance, fundraising, program, volunteer, and leadership teams that want shared records across those functions. The free plan is suited to qualifying organizations with up to $100K in annual donations and a single user; organizations needing fund accounting must move to Plus or above. Teams needing event tax collection should choose a platform that supports it.

Pros and cons

Pros

Connected nonprofit workflows: Fund accounting, donor records, volunteers, events, and reporting sit in one platform, useful for teams spanning finance and programs.
Fund controls and visibility: Restricted-fund tracking, approvals, grant management, budget-versus-actuals, and an audit trail support oversight beyond basic donation recording.
Free access for eligible organizations: Nonprofits up to $100K in annual donations can start without a card, although the plan is limited to one user and excludes fund accounting.
No per-seat fees or contracts: Teams can plan around the published user caps without additional per-seat charges.
Customer control over data: AlignMint says records are private and exportable, with no donor-data sales.

Cons

Fund accounting requires Plus: The free plan cannot serve organizations that need AlignMint's core fund-accounting workflow.
Card processing has transaction fees: Each card transaction costs 2.7% plus $0.30.
No event tax collection: Organizations collecting tax through event registration will need another solution or process.
Assistant usage is capped: Minty has a 50-message daily limit per user as well as plan-specific monthly allowances.

Alternatives

For a narrower accounting choice, MoneyMinder may suit readers who want a free edition with budgeting tools, a custom chart of accounts, budget forecasting, and Excel export; its listed platforms include Android, iOS, and web.

Grain Ledger is worth considering when the priority is fund-focused budgeting: its free Starter plan supports up to $20k in monthly expenses, one bank connection, three users, unlimited funds, and one active budget. For dedicated church membership and donation tools, IconCMO offers paid plans starting with Membership & Donation Basic at $50.00 USD per month.

Readers comparing other accounting, church, school, or nonprofit event tools can browse Fund Accounting Software, Nonprofit Event Management Software, and Church Background Check Software.

Verdict

AlignMint is a strong fit for nonprofits that want finance, donor, volunteer, event, and program work in one system, particularly when fund-level oversight matters. Its eligible free plan lowers the barrier to entry, but the one-user cap and absence of fund accounting make Plus the practical starting point for teams that need a shared financial workflow. Look elsewhere if event tax collection is essential or if card-processing costs are a deciding factor.
