Overview

GENOME brings amp, effects and cabinet processing together, and its CODEX engine loads Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), AIDA-X and Proteus captures in one workflow. It also includes more than 40 premium AI amp captures, giving players a substantial built-in starting collection.

Run it standalone or in a DAW, with series or parallel routing, up to 12 components per lane and the option to expand to two lanes. That flexibility should suit players who want to shape detailed chains in software; those who only need a small set of ready-made sounds may not need the routing depth. A Two notes account is required.

Key features

Components and capture support

The paid GENOME plan includes 24 amps, 49 pedals, 16 DynIR cabinets and 16 Studio FX. The product separately describes 65 effects and includes an IR loader. Its support for three capture formats broadens the range of compatible captures, while the exclusion of FairTone and Artist Series premium components means the license does not include all premium content associated with GENOME.

Routing, control and hardware

Series and parallel routing, up to 12 components per lane and dual-lane expansion provide room for more involved signal paths. Parameter automation, MIDI mapping and MIDI Learn support control from software or external MIDI hardware. Two notes lists Captor, Captor X, OPUS and ReVolt as compatible hardware.

DAW integration

GENOME runs standalone or as a VST3, AU or AAX plugin. Two notes names Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One and Reaper as tested DAWs. That range gives users of those applications a clear plugin route, while standalone operation works for players who do not need a DAW session.

Pricing

GENOME Intro is free and includes 4 TSM-Ai amplifiers, 14 pedals, 5 DynIR cabinets and 4 Studio FX. It offers a useful way to start without paying, but its smaller component collection makes it better suited to basic use than to building a varied set of chains.

GENOME costs 89.99 USD once. It expands the collection to 24 amps, 49 pedals, 16 DynIR cabinets and 16 Studio FX, making it the more capable choice for players who want the larger built-in library. FairTone and Artist Series premium components remain excluded.

GENOME and its components can be tried with a 14-day free trial license. The desktop license does not include GENOME iOS; using the iOS version requires an iOS Access Pass, so a desktop purchase alone does not cover iPad use.

Platforms

GENOME is offered for macOS 10.15 or newer, 64-bit Windows and iPad running iOS 12 or newer. The desktop app supports macOS and Windows, while iOS access has a separate requirement. A Two notes account is needed to use the software.

Two notes provides a Help Desk and Knowledge Base. Its privacy policy says personal data is stored within the European Union and that reasonable precautions and security procedures are used, while noting that internet transmission security cannot be guaranteed.

Who it's for

GENOME is a strong fit for guitarists and bassists who want amps, effects and cabinet processing in one environment, especially those who already use NAM, AIDA-X or Proteus captures, or who value MIDI control and multi-lane routing. The free plan gives newcomers a no-cost way to explore the core setup. Players who need the full premium component range or expect one license to cover desktop and iPad should weigh the exclusions and separate iOS access before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Loads NAM, AIDA-X and Proteus captures in one workflow, useful for players who work with more than one capture format.
Pros: Supports series and parallel routing, up to 12 components per lane and dual-lane expansion, giving complex chains room to grow.
Pros: Standalone use and VST3, AU and AAX plugins cover both independent playing and DAW sessions.
Cons: GENOME Intro has a much smaller component collection than the paid plan, which may limit variety for players seeking a broad built-in palette.
Cons: FairTone and Artist Series premium components are excluded from the paid plan.
Cons: iOS requires an iOS Access Pass rather than being included with the desktop license.

Alternatives

For another freemium desktop option, Helix Stadium Native has a free Intro tier with five Agoura amps, five cabs, 15 studio effects and proxy clones, with a stated limit of two per preset.

Amped offers a free Roots tier with one amp and a paid full license for players comparing another freemium desktop amp product. Amp Locker is worth considering if Linux support and buying extra modules individually to own outright matter more than GENOME's bundled component set.

Neural Amp Modeler is a free, open-source alternative for readers who prioritize an open project. Amplifikation 360 is another freemium desktop option.

TH-U is a paid alternative with a free trial and iOS, macOS and Windows support. IK Multimedia ReSing is another freemium desktop product, while AIDA-X is a free option.

Verdict

Choose GENOME if you want a single guitar-and-bass environment that combines several capture formats with flexible routing, a substantial paid component library and standalone or DAW use. Its free tier makes it approachable, but players who need the excluded premium components or want iPad access included with a desktop purchase should look elsewhere.
