Overview

Animaker is a web-based service for making animated and live-action videos, with prompt-based generation alongside traditional editing and animation tools. It is best suited to individuals, educators, and teams producing explainers, training, or marketing content who want several creative steps in one workflow. Its breadth is appealing, but the free-plan watermark and the cost of higher-volume monthly plans matter if you need polished, frequent exports.

Key features

Animaker combines video generation with tools for shaping the result. A text prompt can produce a video for review and editing, making generation a starting point rather than a substitute for revision. Whiteboard animation, 2D animation tools, a custom character builder, AI infographics, and AI asset generation give creators distinct ways to build visual stories; this range is useful for varied explainers, though teams focused only on prompt-to-video may not need all of it.

Production support extends to subtitles, translation, AI voiceovers described as spanning 1000+ voices in 100+ languages, and automatic lip sync. More than 1000 animation templates and a Brand Kit can help teams keep recurring content consistent. Real-time collaboration supports shared work, while the Enterprise plan adds dedicated seats, comments, task assignments, a company-wide resource library, and admin controls.

Finished videos can be downloaded as MP4, GIF, or WebM, from SD through 4K. The YouTube publishing flow can upload directly to a user's account. An Ultra Gen API provides RESTful, JSON-based endpoints for integrating video generation into web and mobile apps, making Animaker relevant beyond a standalone creator workflow.

Animaker states that it is ISO 27001:2022 certified, follows GDPR and CCPA processes, and encrypts data in transit and at rest. Tutorials, FAQs, training, and a contact option support users; the company also provides help@animaker.com.

Pricing

Animaker uses a freemium model and offers a 7-day trial. The Free plan is free and includes basic animation tools, limited premium assets, and downloads with an Animaker watermark. It is suitable for exploring the workflow, but the watermark makes it a poor fit for finished client or brand-facing work.

Basic has custom pricing and includes 1,500 AI video credits per month, 50 Gen AI asset credits per month, five premium downloads per month, and a five-minute video limit. That modest export allowance may suit occasional production, but the price needs to be weighed against actual usage.

Starter costs 45.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly. It raises the allowance to 3,000 AI video credits and 200 Gen AI asset credits per month, with 10 premium downloads, 90 seconds of generative video per month, and a 15-minute video limit. It fits creators producing a steady but limited volume; premium exports and generative video remain capped.

Pro costs 79.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly. It includes 5,000 AI video credits, 300 Gen AI asset credits, 30 premium downloads, 180 seconds of generative video per month, and a 30-minute video limit. The higher quotas suit more regular production, though the monthly generative-video allowance is still finite.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited premium downloads and video length, plus 6,000 seconds of generative video and 5,000 Gen AI asset credits per year. Its dedicated seats and team controls make it the clearest fit for organizations managing shared production, rather than solo users seeking the lowest-cost plan. The annual and monthly quotas are meaningfully different, so teams should match them to their publishing cadence.

Platforms

Animaker works on the web and offers iOS and Android apps for creating animated videos on mobile devices. Its Ultra Gen API supports web and mobile app integrations. The web-based workflow is the central fit for teams sharing production, while mobile apps extend creation to phones and tablets.

Who it's for

Animaker suits educators and individuals making animated explainers, and business teams creating learning and development, HR, marketing and sales, or internal communications videos. Its range of animation, voice, localization, and collaboration tools is most valuable when one team handles multiple production needs. It is less compelling for occasional creators who need watermark-free exports without paying, or for teams whose needs exceed the monthly quotas but do not justify Enterprise custom pricing.

Pros and cons

Pro: Prompt generation sits alongside editing, animation, character, infographic, voice, and subtitle tools, supporting more of the production workflow in one service.
Pro: MP4, GIF, and WebM exports up to 4K, together with direct YouTube publishing, cover common delivery needs.
Pro: Real-time collaboration and Enterprise team controls support shared production and governance.
Con: Free downloads carry an Animaker watermark, limiting the free plan for polished external use.
Con: Starter and Pro cap premium downloads and generative video each month, so heavier users must plan around quotas.
Con: Starter at 45.00 USD per month and Pro at 79.00 USD per month are substantial commitments for occasional video makers.

Alternatives

Choose HeyGen if a smaller free allowance is enough: its free plan permits up to three videos per month, each up to one minute. Consider Pika if you want a free plan structured around packs rather than monthly credits; its free plan has zero monthly credits and allows two parallel video generations.

Powtoon is a relevant alternative for short, basic animated videos: its free plan supports 720p and videos up to three minutes, but includes a watermark. Wavel AI offers a seven-day trial with 15 one-time credits and watermarked videos, so it is an option for limited trial access rather than an unlimited free tier. TongFlow is an alternative with an open-source self-hosted core that runs on your own machines.

Kling AI offers a free Basic plan with 30 element creations and no monthly credits. InVideo AI is another freemium option, with a weekly quota reset on its free plan. Synthesia offers a free Basic plan with 1,200 credits per month, 10 minutes of video per month, and 25 AI-generated video assets per month.

Verdict

Animaker is a strong choice for educators and teams that need animation, video generation, localization, and collaboration in one production toolkit. Its breadth and flexible output formats are the main reasons to choose it; the free watermark and finite monthly export and generation quotas are the reasons to look elsewhere if you need unrestricted, low-cost publishing.
