Overview

APEX uses gym performance logged in the app to suggest progression, warm-up weights, deloads, and routine changes. Pairing that with meal estimates and progress checks can help users manage training and nutrition in one place. The coaching depends on what users record: APEX does not connect to Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, or other device health platforms, so people who rely on automatic health-data syncing should look elsewhere.

Nutrition entries can come from photos, text, narration, files, or recipes. APEX estimates their nutrition and suggests meals that fit users’ targets. Check-ins compare progress photos and other results over time, with analysis of body and muscle development. A library of 300+ exercises and 1,200+ ingredients supports workout planning and food logging.

Key features

Training guidance from recorded performance

APEX can turn logged gym results into progression and routine suggestions, including warm-up weights and deloads. Premium makes automatic progression and routine improvements part of its coaching; Free still allows unlimited custom routines and full training history, but smart workout plans are capped at five.

Meal logging and target-aware suggestions

The range of entry methods gives users several ways to record meals, and nutrition estimates and target-based suggestions connect that record to planning. Free includes 10 smart meal logs. Premium removes the smart meal-log cap and adds unlimited nutrition plans, making it the stronger fit for people who expect regular automated food guidance.

Check-ins and data control

Progress-photo comparisons and body analysis give users a way to review physique changes alongside training history. The maker says personal data, including body photos, is not used to train or fine-tune AI models. Its privacy policy names Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI as AI providers, describes TLS 1.2+ in transit and encryption at rest, and says body-photo files receive application-layer AES-256-GCM encryption. Users can export account data; deleting an account permanently removes its associated personal data.

Pricing

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	Free; billed $0 forever	Workout and meal logging with no caps, unlimited custom routines, 300+ exercises, 1,200 ingredients, analytics and full training history, a muscle recovery map, 10 smart meal logs, and 5 smart workout plans.
Premium Monthly	9.99 USD per month; billed $9.99/ month	Everything in Free, plus automatic progression and routine improvements, unlimited assistant chats, smart meal logs, workout and nutrition plans, and body analysis and check-ins.
Premium Yearly	70.00 USD per year; billed $70/ year	The same Premium features, billed annually.

Free is a substantial starting tier for manual logging and custom routine building, but its 10 smart meal logs and 5 smart workout plans limit how far users can take automated guidance. Monthly Premium fits users who want the full coaching set without an annual commitment. Yearly Premium includes the same features at a lower listed annual cost than paying the monthly rate for a full year. A free 30-day trial auto-renews into a paid subscription unless canceled before it ends; subscriptions are managed through App Store settings.

Platforms

APEX is available on iOS and Android. Its equipment profiles let users tailor routines to what they have, including home dumbbells or bodyweight. Email support is available at contact@apexfitness.app, with a usual response time of 1–2 business days.

Who it's for

APEX is a good match for lifters who want training progression, meal guidance, and physique check-ins in one mobile app, and who are comfortable entering their own data. Its equipment-aware routines make it relevant to both gym users and people training at home. It is a weaker fit for anyone who wants wearable or health-platform data to sync automatically.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free plan allows unlimited workout and meal logging, unlimited custom routines, and full training history, so users can build a record before upgrading.
Pros: Photo, text, narration, file, and recipe meal entry gives users multiple ways to log food, with estimates and target-based suggestions.
Pros: Premium combines adaptive training, unlimited smart meal and workout planning, and body check-ins in one subscription.
Cons: APEX has no Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, or other device-health integrations, so training and health data must be entered manually.
Cons: Free users get only 10 smart meal logs and 5 smart workout plans, leaving recurring automated coaching behind the paid plans.
Cons: The 30-day trial renews automatically into a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.

Alternatives

Consider AI Fitness Apps to compare options across the category. Choose ARDOR if an iOS workout app with one free workout each week and a full-access first seven days better fits your routine. Miles is an iPhone running option with run tracking, goal setting, and a plan preview on its free tier. Saga Coach offers three free workouts and a chat trial, making it an alternative for users weighing a workout-focused free tier.

Styrki may suit users who want unlimited manual workout logging, personal-best tracking, GPS runs, cardio and heart-rate tracking, and community features. Freeletics has free workouts, exercises, runs, and audio sessions across Android, iOS, and web, though its free content selection is limited. AI-Training is another AI-training app available on Android and iOS. Core Direction is an alternative for users interested in wearable tracking, body scans, and a 3D avatar. Run With Hal is another Android and iOS option, with a free plan and paid Hal+ subscriptions.

Verdict

Choose APEX if you want lifting, nutrition, and physique guidance together and are willing to log the inputs that drive its coaching. Its free plan is useful for building routines and history; Premium is the more complete choice for ongoing automated plans and body analysis. Look elsewhere if automatic health-data syncing is essential, and cancel before the 30-day trial ends if you do not want it to renew.
