Overview

Auburn Sounds Graillon 3 is a vocal-processing plug-in for singers and producers who want correction and creative pitch shaping in a DAW. Its appeal is the combination of pitch and formant controls with vocal-oriented effects, including a free edition for trying the core toolset.

It is a strong fit for vocal work across desktop systems, though projects that must survive major-version upgrades need care: session compatibility can break between major versions.

Key features

Pitch shifting, formant shifting and pitch correction are available alongside three pitch engines: G2, G3 and I1. Real-time correction and MIDI pitch control support both corrective and deliberately expressive uses. The 12-semitone shift range gives room for vocal transformations, but sets a clear boundary for larger pitch moves.

The built-in compressor, gate, chorus, preamp and bitcrusher are described by Auburn Sounds as vocal-tuned and adding no latency. Keeping these effects alongside pitch tools can make Graillon 3 a useful vocal insert; the set is focused on vocals rather than a general effects collection.

The Full Edition adds Pitch-Tracking Modulation (PTM), keyboard tuning and a vocal doubler, plus 20 additional presets covering Maqam scales, robotic voices and vocal effects. These additions matter most to users who need those specific modulation, tuning or doubling options; the Free Edition retains the principal pitch tools and built-in effects.

Pricing

Graillon Free Edition: Free. It includes pitch shifting, formant shifting, pitch correction, all three pitch engines and the built-in effects. It omits PTM, vocal doubling and keyboard tuning, so it is the sensible starting point for core correction and shaping, but not for those Full-only tools.

Graillon Full Edition: 29.00 USD per once, billed $29.00 USD or more and shown on sale from $38.67. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and includes PTM, a vocal doubler, microtonal tuning and 20 additional presets. Auburn Sounds says there is no update fee, so buyers are not charged separately for updates; compatibility across major version changes may nevertheless break. Full Editions are sold through resellers acting as merchant of record, with payment and billing data handled by the reseller.

Platforms

The guide lists CLAP, VST3, VST2, Audio Unit v2, AAX, LV2 and FLP formats for Windows 7 or newer, macOS 10.15 or newer, and Ubuntu 22.04 or newer. The Full Edition page names Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, Live and FL Studio among supported host software. That breadth makes it a practical option for users on different desktop systems, provided their OS and host meet the stated requirements.

Auburn Sounds says the plug-in has no phone-home behavior. The maker also says it runs no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or profiling, and that its website stores nothing about visitors.

Who it's for

Graillon 3 suits vocalists, producers and sound designers who want pitch correction and formant shaping with a compact set of vocal effects, particularly those who value a free edition or work across Linux, macOS and Windows. Full is the better fit when PTM, keyboard or microtonal tuning, vocal doubling or the extra presets are part of the intended workflow. Users who need sessions guaranteed to remain compatible across major version changes should be cautious.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free edition includes correction, shifting, formant control, three engines and built-in effects, so core vocal work does not require an upgrade.
Pros: A broad range of plug-in formats and three desktop operating systems gives it flexibility across supported setups.
Pros: Full is a one-time purchase with no update fee, and the maker says the plug-in does not phone home.
Cons: PTM, keyboard tuning and vocal doubling require Full, limiting the free edition for users who need those functions.
Cons: Session compatibility may break across major version changes, a risk for long-lived projects.
Cons: The 12-semitone pitch-shift range limits how far it can move a signal in one direction.
