Overview

Auction Flex is auction-management software for auctioneers handling both live sales and online bidding. It is best suited to operators who need cataloging, sale-day workflows and checkout in one system; the separate desktop and web products make the choice of setup important.

Its strongest case is breadth across auction operations and formats. The trade-off is a monthly plan price plus HiBid usage fees, so the total cost depends on how sales are run.

Key features

Cataloging and sale operations

Auction Flex covers cataloging, clerking, cashiering, accounting, inventory, mailing lists and multi-parcel auctions. Auction Flex v10 adds configurable item types, bulk editing and AI-powered cataloging assistance. Those tools will matter most to teams managing substantial or changing catalogs; buyers seeking only a basic online bidding page may not need this operational breadth.

Web and online bidding

AuctionFlex 360 is the web-based option for cataloging and managing sales, with HiBid integration. Auction Flex supports internet absentee bids, internet-only auctions and webcast live bidding, as well as automatic bidding. HiBid provides a bidding portal and private-label web service, and allows one-click auction uploads to an auctioneer’s website. Auction details can also be uploaded to AuctionZip.com using the auctioneer’s AuctionZip login.

Payments and integrations

Options include QuickBooks, shipping, credit-card processing, mailing lists, RF modems, driver-license check-in and touchscreen kiosks. Global Payments provides integrated processing after approval and setup; cards may be tokenized and stored through the processor, with access potentially limited by user role. Auction Flex and HiBid state that they handle PCI coverage for customers using Global Payments. That arrangement may suit auctioneers who want integrated payments, but it makes processor approval and setup part of the onboarding path.

Mobile and support

Auction Flex Mobile supports cataloging and clerking on phones and tablets through native Android and iOS apps or a browser. Phone support runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm EST; a help center and bookable training are also available. Auction Flex says it serves more than 4,000 customers across all 50 U.S. states, nine Canadian provinces and other countries.

Pricing

The plans are billed monthly unless noted otherwise. Choose by product and staffing model: the workstation plans are for desktop use, while Solo, Team, Business and Enterprise are user-based AuctionFlex 360 plans.

Plan	Price	Includes
First 25 GB cloud storage	Free	25 GB included
1 Workstation	85.00 USD per month	1 workstation; desktop software; catalog, clerk and close
Solo	95.00 USD per month	1 user; AuctionFlex 360 web platform
2 Workstations	120.00 USD per month	2 workstations; simultaneous cataloging and clerking
Team	145.00 USD per month	2–5 users; AuctionFlex 360
3 Workstations	155.00 USD per month	3 workstations; cataloging, clerking and checkout stations
4 Workstations	190.00 USD per month	4 workstations; high-volume team setup
Business	195.00 USD per month	6–9 users; AuctionFlex 360
Enterprise	295.00 USD per month	Unlimited users; centralized access controls
Unlimited workstations	550.00 USD per month	Unlimited workstations

The free option is cloud storage, not a full auction-management plan. The 1 Workstation plan is the lowest-priced paid entry and covers one desktop workstation; Solo costs more but gives one user the web platform. Teams needing concurrent desktop work can move to 2, 3 or 4 Workstations, while web teams have Team or Business tiers and Enterprise removes the user cap. The 30-day trial provides a way to evaluate the product before paying.

HiBid fees are additional: a 2% auction fee, $0.25 per unique bid capped at $150 per auction, and a $75 webcast setup fee. These charges can materially change the economics of online and webcast sales, so include them alongside the subscription when budgeting.

Platforms

Auction Flex lists Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web and Windows. Its specific mobile apps are native Android and iOS, with browser access also supported; v10 is downloadable desktop software and AuctionFlex 360 is web-based.

Who it's for

Auction Flex is a strong fit for auctioneers who run both live and online sales and want software spanning catalog preparation through checkout. Desktop workstation tiers suit crews sharing sale-day duties; AuctionFlex 360 suits teams that prefer web-based cataloging and management. It is less compelling for a small fundraiser or occasional seller that needs only a simple bidding event, particularly if HiBid fees would outweigh the value of the broader workflow.

Pros and cons

Broad auction workflow: Cataloging, clerking, cashiering, accounting, inventory and multi-parcel support reduce the need to split core auction tasks across separate tools.
Multiple selling formats: Absentee, online-only and webcast live bidding cover varied sale formats, with automatic bidding supported.
Choice of operating model: Desktop workstation and web user plans accommodate different team structures, while mobile apps support cataloging and clerking in the field.
Costs extend beyond subscription: HiBid adds transaction and webcast fees, which matter for operators calculating per-sale margins.
Plan choice requires care: Desktop workstation counts and web user counts are separate ladders, so buyers should match the tier to their actual workflow rather than assume one plan covers every setup.

Alternatives

BidPro is worth considering when a free bidder-facing tier and a pay-as-you-go auction fee starting at $65 minimum are a better fit than Auction Flex’s monthly plans. Auctria may suit event organizers who can work within its free Explorer caps of $10,000 annual income, 250 bidders per event and three team members. BiddingOwl is an option for buyers seeking a free service for traditional silent or live auctions.

Indy.auction is another auction platform to compare. 32auctions offers a free online-only option capped at 20 items, useful when a small auction can fit that limit. AuctionMethod may be a better fit for teams wanting its $100.00 USD per month Growth plan with unlimited auctions, bids, lots, items, photos and admin users. Fish Auctions is another option to consider. GalaBid may suit organizers who want a free-with-tipping plan or its 4.90 USD per once Pro plan without tip prompts.

Verdict

Choose Auction Flex if you operate recurring live and online auctions and need cataloging, sale management and checkout supported by desktop, web and mobile options. Its operational range and bidding formats are the main reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need only a lightweight event auction or cannot justify monthly software costs alongside HiBid’s transaction and webcast charges.
